Muslims attending a mosque in London have been pelted with eggs and stones in a suspected Islamophobic attack.
The Met Police have launched an investigation after an incident outside the Ilford Islamic Centre that prompted condemnation from local politicians.
Staff at the mosque said the items were thrown from a silver estate car by a white man with a shaved head, and that at least three other people were in the vehicle.
Ahmed Nahwaz, director and secretary of the centre, said the incident was "a shame" but that the community remained strong.

What is an estate car?
Estate cars are essentially standard hatchback or saloon models with an extended rear end, providing more trunk space for flat-pack furniture enthusiasts, sports players with bulky equipment, or anyone who needs to transport their family and associated clutter.
Were those eggs hardboiled or raw? Makes a difference.
I recall growing up in Michigan, my friends and I being warned by the Nuns at school not to put (any more) rocks inside our snowballs.

I’ll wait for footage from the ubiquitous CCTV cameras the UK is famous for before I believe statements from staff at the mosque. It could just as easily have been Sunni vs Shiite or other Muslim factionalism.

They tend to use louder, more explosive items, but you could be right.
I’m surprised their allowed to put any cameras near a mosque.
Britain is a world leader in being a surveillance state.
Even if they’re not at the mosque there ought to be plenty in the area to track the car and its registration.
Fairly straight forward you’d think...
The “estate” was originally the same as the station wagon.
Station wagon. The English language diverges between British and American when it comes to automobile terminology: the sedan is a “saloon”, engine hood is the “bonnet”, the trunk is the “boot”, windshield is called “windscreen”, emergency brakes are all center-mounted “handbrakes”, turn signals are called “indicators”, et al.
That is NOT an “attack”.
Eggs and stones?
Wouldn’t green eggs and ham been more subtle.
