It’s a lie. Donald Trump is flat-out lying to manipulate the political process. I get sick and tired of people on the Left who refuse to believe things that contradict what they prefer to believe, but it is no better when people on the Right do it. It is as plain as day what happens when a people accept as true statements they have every reason to know are lies, and accept them because it suits their political preferences. The corruption of the truth is far worse than ordinary corruption, like stealing money. It makes it impossible to know what is real.
Look, I wrote a whole book that describes the left-wing ideological assault on the truth, for the sake of achieving political power. We on the Right are no better than them if we surrender the truth for the sake of power. Donald Trump is not forcing anybody to accept the lie. That is on us. If you are a member of Congress who would rather affirm something you know to be a lie, or should know is a lie, because you are afraid of losing your job, then you have already lost something far more important than your job.
Once again, I want to see a Republican Party that embodies many of the principles associated with Trump: immigration restriction, anti-globalism, cultural conservatism, and so forth. But none of that matters if we abandon the truth. None of it. That is a price too high for honest men and women to pay. Besides which, even if you were prepared to accept a lie for the sake of power, it’s not going to work.

Nowhere in your excerpt do I see the lie specified in which Donald Trump is supposedly guilty of. And I’m certainly not going to click the link to read further.
In the future if you’re going to post such a bald faced claim, kindly post the specific point supporting that claim.

This POS asswipe uses a tweet about the voter registration database being some guy’s screen as evidence of Trump lying. Granted, Trump was not specific about the the database that was deleted. Those following this closely know Arizona State Senate President Karen Fann wrote a letter stating that an entire database was deleted. Specifically, “We have recently discovered that the entire ‘Database’ directory from the D drive of the machine ‘EMSPrimary’ has been deleted,”
The way Dreher formatted the piece made quoting the so-called lie (Trump on the Arizona election) impossible. Sorry you couldn’t be bothered to click. Glad you were able to send your snotty response, however.

How does Dreher know that we know Trump’s claims are lies? How does HE know? Has he studied the evidence?

Dreher goes along with S Richer’s interpretation that the database Trump refers to is the voter registration database.
It is as if Trump said someone smashed a car, and I said, Trump is lying, this blue Chevy is fine, clearly not smashed.
What Trump wrote does not specify the deleted database. It is sheer laziness on at least two levels for Dreher to write what he did.
Unfortunately for Dreher, the rest of the article was very good, I thought, showing that we should be wary of those who peddle untruth. I say unfortunately because Dreher was the one publicizing untruth.

I have no problem when someone posts something and cites why the writer is garbage. We get a bunch of crap from Politico, the Hill, and Breitbart, that are posted without context and designed to inflame.
