Denmark and the Syrian Refugees No Longer Welcome to Stay
BBC ^ | May 19, 2021 | Adrienne Murray

When Denmark became the first European country last month to revoke residence status for more than 200 Syrian refugees, it faced condemnation from EU lawmakers, the UN refugee agency and human rights groups.

Authorities in Copenhagen argue that parts of Syria are now safe enough for refugees to return.

But the issue has proved divisive and activists and community groups have planned protests in several cities on Wednesday in support of the refugees.

For a country with a liberal reputation, Denmark has become known for repeatedly tightening its immigration policies in recent years.

In a separate move, it recently signed a migration agreement with Rwanda, leading to speculation that it intends to open an asylum-processing facility there.

Short presentational grey line Danish authorities notified Sara's family in February that she, her parents and younger siblings could no longer stay.

"All my life is here. How can I go back to Syria now?" says the 19-year-old, who speaks fluent Danish and is due to sit her final high-school exams next month. She dreams of becoming an architect, but after six years in Denmark her future in Denmark is now in doubt.

They are among more than 200 Syrian nationals who have had their residency withdrawn on the grounds that Damascus and the surrounding region are now considered safe.

If you want to stay... Apply for citizenship. Work for it. It won’t be handed to you for nothing.

Senior police officers told Dawn that dozens of villagers wielding batons and iron rods attacked the Golra police station, asking the police for the custody of the suspect held for investigation into a complaint lodged against him on a blasphemy charge.

Typical BBC socialist tripe.

Find an exceptionally nice Syrian family and wring as many tears as possible from their sob story.

Meanwhile across the country Syrian men are making a nuisance of themselves committing rape and assaults.

Sorry young lady but it is the practice of governments to make one size fits all rules.

Unrulily guest are asked to leave and not return.

The good get thrown out with the bad.

Having been to Denmark a couple of times...I will say that the general public has a significant expectation that you work, and pay taxes. They really aren’t impressed if you lounge around or stay on some welfare progression. Maybe if you arrived, made a huge effort on integration, and have a regular job...you might avoid this public view, but I seriously doubt that you find more than a quarter of the incoming crowd who went to that nature.

The problem with most of the ‘Syrian’ refugees is that they’ve never set foot in Syria, so they’re scared to death of having to go a country that they’ve never lived in.

Can’t say I blame them.

My attitude is “You said you were Syrian, well now you are going back to Syria. Bye!”

“She can be an architect in Damascus...”

Syria has lots of available building sites created with Russian assistance.

Asylum is meant to be temporary. You can apply for citizenship, but you’ll probably have to wait outside the country.

“In a separate move, it recently signed a migration agreement with Rwanda, leading to speculation that it intends to open an asylum-processing facility there.”

Good luck with that.
