The series, titled “Let’s Learn,” features a drag queen going by the name “Lil Miss Hot Mess.” The drag queen, née Harris David Harris, is a media personality from San Francisco, California, and bills himself as one of the first drag queens to host a reading hour for kids.

What’s ironic is they don’t realize they are making caricatures of themselves. Little children will giggle more than they learn. In 30 years this will be seen as a “mammy” stereotype.

Are things so far gone in NYC that people do not realize this really does nothing to aid in the education of children while yet another generation of illiterates graduate from public schools? (That’s a rhetorical question.) I need not even address the ideology behind a drag queen series. There is only so much time in each day. Children need to be exposed to a variety of things, including play. There are many educational choices that maximize a child’s learning time, but NYC chooses child abuse.
