I haven’t taken CNN seriously for decades now. They lost all credibility with their “live reporting from Bagdhad” that was actually in a US studio, and the two reporterettes in the same location pretending not to be.

For 2017 to the end of 2020...they went and used up every ounce of journalistic capability they had....to sell you the anti-Trump agenda. They should have named it the ATNC (Anti-Trump News Channel).
I was hoping some Chinese media company would walk in and buy them this year, and convert them over to China-News-Network.

“News” organization are incestuously intertwined with government... Family members, marriages, relatives where one works in government and the other in ‘news’ is common.

I completely agree. Frankly, there is almost no unbiased news out there any more. But I’m fine with that. I can spot bias pretty easily. It’s why I had to dump TV in 1997. It was just too irritating. Now I can “talk back” and call out the bias when I see it. It is like stripping the biased veneer off the raw facts. Then you get to make up your own mind.
Indeed, Pols wanted to harness the power of earned media for re-elections and "reporters" wanted the inside scoop as they wanted to save the world from another Watergate. Sprinkle in massive liberal bias and you have lost all credibility as a straight news organization.

In the short run the revolving door between politics and ‘news’ works... same with incestuous intertwinings... but in the long run these ‘oh too common’ ethical lapses - that seemed minor at some point - destroyed an industry.
The hardest addictions to conquer are ones that benefit in the short run (or feel good in the short run) but destroy in the long run... it’s why toxic incentives are called ‘toxic incentives’...
