NOBEL WINNER: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL CRUSH HUMANS, “IT’S NOT EVEN CLOSE”

Endgame, Set, Match
It’s common knowledge, at this point, that artificial intelligence will soon be capable of outworking humans — if not entirely outmoding them — in plenty of areas. How much we’ll be outworked and outmoded, and on what scale, is still up for debate. But in a new interview published by The Guardian over the weekend, Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman had a fairly hot take on the matter: In the battle between AI and humans, he said, it’s going to be an absolute blowout — and humans are going to get creamed.
“Clearly AI is going to win [against human intelligence]. It’s not even close,” Kahneman told the paper. “How people are going to adjust to this is a fascinating problem.”
Why listen to Daniel Kahneman? His 2011 book, “Thinking, Fast and Slow” — over two million copies sold — is one of the most influential tomes in the field of behavioral economics, exploring how and why humans think the way they think (the “fast” thinking of the title being intuitive; the “slow” thinking being rational), and what leaves us prepared (or unprepared) to make decisions about our future. But moreover, he won his 2002 Nobel Prize for pioneering “prospect theory,” which explains how people rationalize the difference between gains and losses, and how their thresholds for risk aversion and risk appetite work.

Very interesting hypothesis: That AI on other planet(s) is or are waiting for the framework to be established so that the AI can occupy this planet next.
VERY interesting hypothesis.

Wrong:
“The carbonaceous winners are plants, which make up about 80 percent of all biomass on Earth. Bacteria comes in second at 13 percent and fungus is third at just 2 percent.”

NOT, if the so called “intelligence” which is then converted into artificial algorithms and decision trees which are based on FALSE original intelligence. That would be a situation in which the artificial “intelligence” is destroying humans because of the original inputs. We simply turn off the machines and have a backup in all systems to do so. Much as the “solution” to the weirding out at the Y2K. GIGO still applies
at any rate. Too simplistic? well maybe.

Someone or corporations will own each AI machine. They will reap the profits accordingly.
And
Even if basic resources are not “scarce”, resource allocation will still need to happen. I suspect energy, processing power, and data storage will replace fiat currency in the long term. Amazon could issue a crypto currency right now, backed by data storage (terabyte*years).

Since humans created artificial “intelligence “ it’ll be humans winning against humans.

Hmm. Anti-vax as an IQ-driven selector for who survives. Interesting...

This is nonsense. Animals depend on low order brain-function for motivation. The so called "4-Fs". Each of those "Fs" is driven by the limbic system, i.e. it is emotional. Any machine that is going to accomplish anything must "want" to do it, some replacement for an animal's limbic system. For current computing, the "want" is provided by a program from which the machine cannot deviate. Modern AI is just such a program, albeit a complicated program.
If/when it becomes possible to build machine intelligence, something that thinks for itself and has free will, the machine will require "want" in order to accomplish tasks. It will not be bound by control of static programming. The machine is smart and capable of self-modification. It will be simple for the machine to modify its "want" in whatever suits the machine.
Thought experiment: imagine if humans had absolute control over their feelings and desires even from an early age. How likely is it that those humans would thrive by our standards or even survive?

Best post.
It used to be man wanted to be God. Now man wants his machine to be God. Think of the machine as an idol. God will defeat any man made machine. Not even close.

“Nobel Winner” does not mean a damn thing. They gave one to Obama just for getting elected. Again, to be clear, Nobel prizes are meaningless.
