The Left is trying to redefine critical race theory because it's losing
The Washington Examiner ^ | June 16, 2021 | by Zachary Faria

The Left tried to use last summer’s momentum from the Black Lives Matter movement to push its destructive ideas of so-called “anti-racism” and critical race theory. Now, it's frantically trying to redefine the terms of the debate, as the momentum has built up against it instead.

Liberals are now asking that you pay no attention to the curriculum behind the curtain. They have taken to insisting that critical race theory isn’t actually being taught in K-12 schools, even though there are clear examples that show that it is. The New York Times even wrote in July 2020 about the “anti-racism” programs being brought to parents and staff in various school districts. Another New York Times piece published just two weeks ago noted that critical race theory is a "framework that has found its way into K-12 public education."

The controversial, Pulitzer-winning 1619 Project, which was riddled with historical inaccuracies and crafted on the false premise that the American Revolution was fought to preserve slavery, has also been pushed into K-12 curricula. The project’s architect, Nikole Hannah-Jones, is among the many liberals trying to cast critical race theory in the narrowest terms possible.

She is trying to distance her shoddy “journalism” from critical race theory because the push against it is real and effective.

As with nonsensical definitions of "assault weapon" or weapon of war" in the gun debate, the Left constantly tries to redefine the terms of debate when they are losing an issue. Were it not for the shield of the Supreme Court, abortion would be far more restricted in the United States. That is also a losing issue for them, so much so that they must redefine the pro-life movement as “anti-choice" and abortion is a “procedure” or, more simply, a “women’s rights issue.” In recent years, they have tried hard to shift attention from abortion itself to birth control.

Now, they’re trying to erase their own connections to Ibram X. Kendi, Robin DiAngelo, and other racial hucksters whom they zealously promoted not long ago — people who, yes, have managed to worm their way into K-12 curricula. All of those school districts spending thousands on Kendi’s books, “anti-racism” programs, and bureaucrats with words such as “equity” in their title — now, these clowns want to make us all think that we imagined all of it.

This is obviously a good sign. It means that the push against these toxic ideas, from both Republican state governments and the concerned parents at local school board meetings, is working. Much like Hannah-Jones did in constantly moving the goalposts on the merits of the 1619 Project, she and other liberals are doing the same here because they are losing the fight to indoctrinate America’s youth with their toxic and divisive racial obsession. We are on the right path, and the push to reject these ideas must continue apace.

So they're now saying Republicans don't want to teach kids American history about slavery. That we're trying to "white-wash" the past like the Japanese not teaching about what they did in China, or the Germans refusing to talk about the Holocaust.

Don't believe a second of it!

THAT subject is indeed taught, and the antebellum world of slavery, the Civil War and the aftermath (13 and 14th amendment) is well-known and taught IF you paid attention and weren't busy on your smart phone.

CRT isn't about slavery--it isn't even about racism.

It is the believe that the entire existence of the United States is based on black slavery and racism, and to this day white people still get the benefits and black people do not.

Never discussed is why there are so many poor whites or rich blacks.

The white proponents of this theory are predominately upper class whites from liberal enclaves and could never imagine life in the typical Southern trailer park, mountain holler, rural farm or the rest of flyover country where so many working class and poor whites live.

The black proponents are often looking to score $$$ from these same wealthy, but guilty upper class whites.

You can teach American history about slavery without Marxist indoctrinating concepts of class struggle.

Funny how it’s “global warming”, but only American racism.

Ha. I just wrote this yesterday...
I am curious-how long will it be before the Left decides not to refer to it as "Critical Race Theory" because of the negative connotations, and decides to call it something like "Equality Justice Theory" or some BS like that?

I have noted, and Americans as far back as the 1920's noticed it, is that the Left loves to cloak its endeavors and intentions in intentionally misleading language. They love to call their organizations things like "American Patriot Committee for Peace and Equality", but people who understand them know that every single world is meant to appeal to people who aren't paying attention, and that

When you see a Leftist organization named something like American Patriot Committee for Peace and Equality you can bank on these certain things:

Found this on the /conservative subreddit on Reddit. It explains how the Left argues, and can be so weaselly about it. As you read, think about the confabulation they do in gun control via attacking "assault weapons" which aren't but rather simply semi-autos that look military, and use this fear to ban gun ownership. Here's the posting:

The motte-and-bailey fallacy (named after the motte-and-bailey castle) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy where an arguer conflates two positions which share similarities, one modest and easy to defend (the "motte") and one much more controversial (the "bailey"). The arguer advances the controversial position, but when challenged, they insist that they are only advancing the more modest position. Upon retreating to the motte, the arguer can claim that the bailey has not been refuted (because the critic refused to attack the motte) or that the critic is unreasonable (by equating an attack on the bailey with an attack on the motte).

Bailey: "White people are inherently evil and 'whiteness' is a plague upon society. All white people living today are directly responsible for the actions of white men 200 years ago and should be made to express constant guilt and repentance through self-deprecation and financial reparations. All society is systemically racist, whether individuals are racist or not, and the only solution to systemic racism is to take the property of white people and redistribute it along racial and gender lines.

Reference 1: Critical Race Theory is not a Conspiracy Theory

Reference 2: Insane Racist Psychiatrist at Yale

Motte: "You are a conspiracy theorist. CRT is simply empathy! CRT is merely an acknowledgement of the difficulties that minorities face! To deny CRT is to deny wholesale all historical oppression that black people have faced, in the same manner as holocaust denial! CRT only advocates for fair treatment and equity for marginalized groups!"

Notice that Critical Race Theorists always preach the bailey, but will only ever defend the motte, while gaslighting that the Bailey argument they just made is a myth. And then once you give up, they immediately go back to preaching the Bailey.

The BLM riots just cleared out black neighborhoods to enrich politically connected gentrification development companies. Not a coincidence that housing and rents will continue to skyrocket.

Yup.

Even here in Alabama the Left wing blacks (and I’d say most blacks here are not Left wing) minority is pestering the Republican elderly female governor (we call her Meemaw) Kay Baily with creating a Juneteenth holiday. Every day the local news has the story of a “Reverend” or “Community Organizer” demanding the holiday.

The latest confabulation is not making it a holiday means you are the KKK.

And that's something that should be brought up in a "dialogue" with a Leftist, along with pointing out their duplicity/hypocrisy.

Leftists do not debate in good faith. You have to hammer them down every time.

The Left is like the quote often misattributed to Churchill: "The Hun is always either at your throat or your feet"
But even if the Left appears to be at your feet, they are still scheming and conniving.

Yes.

I’ve always been impressed by the weasel and slippery debate tactics of the Left.

The best way to counter them is to call their strawman a strawman. Don’t defend your actions based on their strawman. Reply that the argument is a strawman (believe me, they hate that) and not what you said, believe or are advocating—they just made it up.

Constantly address the lies they say within the argument. If you say that argument is dumb, they’ll say you called THEM dumb. Don’t accept the switch. Pin them down on it.

The COVID lockdowns, too. I saw lots of “white elephant” corporate clusters out here in suburbia. Maybe a skeleton crew (few cars in the lot). I’m sure they could be had for a nice price by, oh let’s say, China? Especially with low interest rates and rapid inflation - the long term view is rosy for that sort of deal.

The Leftists are constantly trying to misleading by changing the meaning of words and re-writing history. It's well worth being reminded of those Stalinist tactics.

* * *

In case you missed it. . . here's an 8:00 Youtube that will warm the cockles of your heart.

Marc Lamont Hill’s Explosive Interview with Rep. Vernon Jones on Critical Race Theory.

Actually the title is flawed. It should really read:

Marc Lamont Hill's Plot to take down the next Governor of Georgia Blows up in his Face.

The Trumpian Vernon Jones shows how it's done!  Looking forward to seeing Mr. Jones in person in August when he's visits our local GOP caucus.
