'Like the Confederate, it is tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect,' Gray wrote of the flag. 'It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents ALL of us. It’s not fair to be forced to honor it. It’s time for a new flag.'
Gray put together a proposal for that new flag, with off-white stripes, '52 stars to include D.C. and Puerto Rico,' and stars 'the colors of ALL of us — your skin tone and mine — like the melanin scale.'
She would retain the blue square for 'vigilance' and the red stripes for 'valor.'
She went on to claim that the 'white' stripes meant to represent purity and innocence are not an accurate way to depict the country.
'America is great,' Gray said. 'It is beautiful. Pure, it ain’t. It is broken and in pieces.'

I think this is part of the motivation for adding a 51st state. Add a state and the flag has to be redesigned. And they’d push hard for a major redesign. It’s all part of the “cultural revolution” aspect of bringing this country down. Remove any connection to the past.
How about we keep the flag and you find a new country.

When Alaska was added they did not redesign the flag. It was not redesigned until Hawaii was added.
The flag went from 48 to 50 stars.

a few 49 star flags were made but when Alaska was added they knew Hawaii was close behind.

here’s my opinion: all those who fought in the civil war were Americans, as were all those who fought in the Indian wars.
Likewise, all those we fought in prior international wars from countries with which we are now allied, they are now our allies.
Furthermore, those who fought honorably, under the laws of war as understood at the time, should be honored.
One day, it should be our hope, that the entire world will be joined in peace, freedom and prosperity. But, until that day is come, we must honor those who respond to the call of duty, to defend us during times of war.
As for the U.S. be imperfect, yes it is, and anybody who says they are perfect is a liar.
