Biden DOJ suing Georgia over new voting restrictions
CNBC ^ | June 25, 2021 | Kevin Breuninger

The Department of Justice is suing Georgia, alleging a recently passed election law violates the Voting Rights Act’s protections for minority voters, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Friday.

“Where we see violations of federal law, we will act,” Garland said at a press conference.

Garland said Georgia’s election reform law was enacted “with the purpose of denying or abridging the right of Black Georgians to vote on account of their race or color.”

He called the Justice Department’s new lawsuit “the first of many steps we are taking to ensure that all eligible voters can cast a vote,” that all lawful votes are counted, and that every voter has access to accurate information.”

Garland announced the federal suit about three months after Republican Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia signed the election overhaul bill passed by the GOP-controlled legislature.

The law reportedly enacts a slew of restrictive and potentially confusing measures that critics allege will harm turnout, especially in Democrat-and-minority-heavy urban and suburban counties.

Kemp later Friday blasted the DOJ’s lawsuit and accused Democrats, including President Joe Biden and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, of “weaponizing” the agency.

“This lawsuit is born out of the lies and misinformation the Biden administration has pushed against Georgia’s Election Integrity Act from the start,” Kemp said in a statement.

“Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, and their allies tried to force an unconstitutional elections power grab through Congress - and failed. Now, they are weaponizing the U.S. Department of Justice to carry out their far-left agenda that undermines election integrity and empowers federal government overreach in our democracy.”

The governor insisted that the election law he signed is intended to ensure that “it’s easy to vote and hard to cheat in Georgia.”

We all know the black race is too crippled by systemic racism
to be able to function like any other citizen in our society.

“...“Where we see violations of federal law, we will act,” Garland said...”

And if we don’t, we will make them up.

Suing Georgia for ‘voter restrictions’, while not addressing the stricter voter laws in states like NY and Maryland.

Perhaps the Georgia secretary of state should adapt the voter laws of NY and Maryland. What would the democrats say then?

Georgia Republicans’ mistake was not taking a titling cue from congressional Dems, and call their voter reform act to assure eligibility of a person voting through a form of ID, the state For The People Act. Democrat congressional Dems have a habit of cutesy populist messaging titles for their voters, who have a tendency to judge the legislative book by the sloganeering cover. Hence, HR1 For the People Act to mask the true intent of their bill as a For the Cheaters Act, which expands mail in balloting nationwide while doing away with ID requirements and ushering in ballot harvesting, to enable their state political operatives to steal elections from the people.

Pure horse hockey. Garland should have his law license pulled.

So you have an attorney general of an administration whose election has an asterisk next to it due to known irregularities, suing a state which is trying to prvent those irregularities in the future.

The phrase conflict of interest comes to mind.

Also, not much has been said after that Arizona state senator told Garland any attempt to infere in their audit will result in people being thrown in jail.

Yup...we’ve gotta always remember that those silly black folks can’t seem to figure out how to get a state ID.

***“Where we see violations of federal law, we will act,” Garland said at a press conference.***

“...And where we choose not to look for any violations, we certainly won’t find any, and thus, won’t act.” - said no one in government anywhere.

Subjective looking for violations by the DOJ. Business as usual.

Why can’t they just come right out and tell the world how stupid they believe black Americans are? Why don’t they just cast their votes for them. Why bother sending ballots or voting? Just assume every single black American is exactly the same and will vote for whatever democrats say black Americans should be for?

So the Foreigner appointed by Fraud attacks the State of Georgia and their sovereign voting laws, and what? Everyone yawns?

This SOB is trying to Seal the Steal by preventing anyone from cutting off the fraud. The Republicans should go to WAR over this, and specifically get this guy thrown out of the DoJ NOW. The screaming should be never ending. He has tried to stop the audits, stop any laws that would secure voting systems, stop any sort of enforcement that would prevent the massive fraud that put him in power.

We don’t need a criminal running the DoJ whose sole interest is keeping himself and his co-conspirators from being caught.

“Where we see violations of federal law, we will act”. Uh, don’t you have to have some sort of proof before suing? Can they just sue and then try to find some justification later on?

The only large change is voter ID which is required in almost every country and most states. Other than that Georgia’s new law expands voting opportunities.
