Speaking to the press at the signing of the bill, Kemp cited the issue of crime, saying the legislation was needed to ensure prosecutors were properly prosecuting criminals. âThis legislation will help us ensure rogue or incompetent prosecutors are held accountable if they refuse to uphold the law,â...

ATLANTA (AP) â A Georgia commission with powers to discipline and remove prosecutors needs only Gov. Brian Kempâs approval before it can begin operations, possibly disrupting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willisâ prosecution of former President Donald Trump. The state House voted 97-73 on Tuesday for Senate Bill 332, sending it to Kemp. The Republican governor has said he will sign the measure. Though Kemp signed legislation last year creating the Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission, it was unable to begin operating after the state Supreme Court in November refused to approve rules governing its conduct. Justices said they had âgrave...

The newly appointed chairman of the Georgia State Election Board cast the deciding vote on Tuesday against recommending that state legislators ban no-excuse absentee voting. In a 3-2 vote on Tuesday, the election board struck down the recommendation to no longer allow any Georgia voter to request an absentee ballot after Chairman John Fervier declined the request from a fellow board member that the General Assembly dissolve a rule passed in 2005. Absentee ballots in Georgia have been under increased scrutiny after the State Election Board adopted emergency rules in the 2020 in response to the pandemicâs public health emergency....

On Tuesday, over 60 "Stop Cop City" protestors were indicted in Fulton County, Georgia on charges in connection with their efforts to prevent the construction of a police training facility near Atlanta earlier this year. The defendants, collectively branded an "enterprise of militant anarchists, eco-activists and community organizers," have all been accused of violating the state's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Individual defendants are also facing other charges related to their particular roles.

In a controversial move, Democratic Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged former President Donald Trump last month under Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. It appears Willis, the proud daughter of a top Black Panther, may have unwittingly opened Pandora's box as it pertains to the acceptability of lawfare in the state â to the detriment of her fellow leftists. Georgia's Republican attorney general made clear Tuesday that the gloves are now off, indicting 61 radicals under the same statute. Now with the shoe on the other foot, leftists are decrying the RICO charges, calling them "anti-democratic," reported...

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp (GA) opposes launching a criminal probe into Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, instead preferring an oversight committee investigation that would slow-walk accountability, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) exclusively told Breitbart News. Kemp and Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr are seeking to use the stateâs oversight committee to investigate Willis for her alleged improper relationship with a top prosecutor in their case against former President Donald Trump, according to Greene. The committee operates like a disciplinary commission with the power to remove county prosecutors from public office. As with all committees, they move very slowly and...

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) appeared at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday, while ignoring calls to criminally prosecute Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Kempâs Davos vacation suggests he prefers to socialize with global elites than combat corruption in his own state of Georgia. Kemp told Georgia state lawmakers his Davos trip is âa great opportunity for me to be out here to share Georgiaâs success story with people from around the world. Because I believe they can certainly learn a thing or two from us.â It is not clear what global elites would learn from...
