Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has defended its decision to donate $55,000 to 37 Republicans who voted against certifying the 2020 Presidential election result.
Toyota donated more than any other corporate PAC to the politicians who voted against the result - and even gave more than twice as much as the second-biggest donor Cubic Corp.
...
The data shows that at least 103 of the 147 members who voted against the election result received donations from corporations including Walmart and Koch Industries.
But Toyota is the company who has donated far more than other businesses, with its $55,000 worth of donations being more than double than the second-biggest donor Cubic Corp.
...
Other companies who have said they would boycott their political donations in response to the Capitol Hill attacks have continued to give a total of $2.6 million to those who voted to object the result.

I have a pos hyundai that they are dragging their feet repairing. As soon as it has been repaired, I’m buying a Toyota Highlander.
Too bad I bought a Honda
Let's see if Toyota corporate falls for the Twitter gaslighting of Twitter bots claiming they're NEVER gonna a buy a Toyota now...
yeah...some of that twitter crap is included in the article. The pearl clutching is nauseating.
So, the ugly face on their cars accurately represents the ugly ideas behind the owners, eh? And yes, Toyota has the fugliest front ends evah.
Too bad, because their quality makes Mercedes envious.
I think you may have misread the article.
Hahaha, I think you’re right but their Lexus platforms front ends are atrocious and have been forever it seems.
I sure miss the old days when models got regular facelifts. I don’t buy the notion manufacturers spew about tooling costs being prohibitive to do that today.
I had a Toyota once. 1975 I think. Used. Not a bad car. A celiac. They don’t make that car any more.
My friend picks me up in her Toyota suv. Most people have to literally climb in. She brings a step stool with her for people like her mother-in-law She’s getting a running board for it from her husband for her birthday. This instead of a weekend at the beach Very pricey necessary item that should have been standard feature. Stupidity
I took my other friend in her Rav 4 To an airport far away for her and her entourage to get a one hop to Paris. I drove it three hours back on straight highway. It doesn’t cruise. You have to put constant pesssure on the accelerator for three hours. It slows down whe you remove pressure. Sr didn’t spring for cruise control. Thinks because of consumer reports that she has a good car.
The stupidity in that design is on the level of GM- not including trucks. Tgey never stopped producing quality for men who refused to put up with design stupidity
Of course Toyota did this. Ijuts
“Too bad, because their quality makes Mercedes envious.”
I have owned both and you are correct.
“It doesn’t cruise. You have to put constant pesssure on the accelerator for three hours. It slows down whe you remove pressure. Sr didn’t spring for cruise control.”
Are you sure you where in the correct gear? Toyota’s, depending on the year have 2 selections for drive and they also have a sport mode which adjusts the gear ratios giving the sense of a lag if constant pressure is not kept on accelerator.
My Lexus is looking better and better....truth is it’s a 2010!!!
You're blaming Toyota because when someone bought the car they didn't ask for options? I have a 2018 Rav 4...came standard with cruise.
I have a 2021 Tacoma as well. Both of these are great cars. I started buying Toyota's around 1983 or so. First one was a pickup. Had to trade it in a couple of years later when the first baby was born. Got a Corolla. Was a great car. Family grew so traded it in for a brand new Dodge Caravan. Nothing but trouble from that van from day one. Kept it a year and traded it in for a Sienna. Kept that used it heavy for family and business for about a decade before selling it. Bought another Sienna. Kept that until we traded it in for the Tacoma.
Bottom line: Never had any problems with any Toyota I've ever bought other than normal wear and tear items. Never. Well almost never. One time when the Corolla was 8 or 9 years old it conked out in the middle of the highway. Couldn't figure it out. Had it towed. Turns out it was all covered under a hidden warranty for the part that failed. Paid nothing for the tow or the repair.
I would take a Toyota ANY day of the week. I hear nothing but constant stories about how people's cars are in the shop or how it has this problem or that problem. I just smile and wave.
I have a 2001 Camry that is the bet running car I have ever owned. IT WILL NOT DIE.

I have owned 4 Toyotas... and they were all superior cars, worth every dollar spent.
I never had a car to compare with any of them.
This has nothing to do with identifying politicians.
This is another sham hit piece finding someone to blame to take the investigation off the front page by placing the spotlight.
According to opensecrets.com, Toyota overall contributed more to the democrats than the republicans in 2020 and a noted majority of their funds:
Democrats - $993,676 57.58%
Republicans - $731,927 42.42%
Many companies do this to stay on the fence to react to winners rather than gamble on buying losers. Accessories, accessories, accessories...

Toyota has such brand loyalty and a good reputation they basically have FU money when it comes to boycotts and such.
I have that on my car. Yes I was in the right gear
Hmmm, or not … oh well, the thought was fun while it lasted.
Beside, I still like my lil’ red Tacoma #3, so all is good.
And, one of these days, that Supra is mine!
