Company behind Keystone XL pipeline seeks $15B damages from US
NY Post ^ | 7-4-21 | Kenneth Garger

The Canadian-based company behind the since-scrapped Keystone XL crude oil pipeline is seeking $15 billion in damages from the US.

TC Energy on Friday filed a notice of intent with the State Department, claiming they suffered the massive loss “as a result of the U.S. Government’s breach of its NAFTA obligations.”

President Joe Biden cancelled the pipeline’s border crossing permit in January due to environmental concerns — and last month TC Energy pulled the plug on the project after Canadian officials failed to convince the president to reverse his decision.

The partially-constructed pipeline would have transported crude from western Canada to Nebraska.

Sure, why not. It's only taxpayer money. (of course, they should win. They got screwed.)

Don’t these people know they need to start learning to code computers?

Sell all those metal pipes and spend the cash on C+ programming.

“The partially-constructed pipeline would have transported crude from western Canada to Nebraska.”

Much of that crude is transported in Warren Buffets tanker trains, the most environmentally worst way in relationship to CO2 emissions (it is plant food) but more importantly train wrecks and flaming burning crude oil.

Warren Buffet is a major contributor to the Democrat Party.

Bingo. Shutting down the pipeline had nothing to do with the environment, it’s all about tanker trains. Follow the money.

When our energy resources use are prohibited from being used by political edict, that curiously benefits Russian oil supply
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3963509/posts
Pipe line shut downs affecting our resources and supply. which result in thousands losing jobs and reliance on costly imports from foreign sources. Denying our energy resources use which if fully developed would turn out to be a major source of income when exported also gives Russia control over Germany .
Disasterous results should be expected when such edicts are issued . Those who order and support such decisions should be impeached because of the serious damage being done to the economy.
Alaska and states like Californica and every state which has so called fossil energy reserves both coal and oil and this includes llinois which has both. Cal and Alaska, TX, and possibly Penn has enough stuff there they not only get the stuff from the ground but process it into fuel so that their gas would only cost $1.50 or even less a gallon

"U.S. Government’s breach of its NAFTA obligations"

Huh, what happened to the new Trump agreement (USMCA) that replaced NAFTA? Was this more fair agreement a treaty like NAFTA, or was it an E.O. signed solely by Pres. Trump? I couldn't find the answer on-line. Anyone?

Back in the days of the NAFTA debates, I concurred with Perot about the "giant sucking sound of jobs leaving America". Perot may have been a little flaky and gave us Clinton, but his prophecy came true.

Sidenote: I came to the conclusion years back that anyone running for high level Federal or State positions should have owned or operated a business sometime in their life. I doubt most Congress Critters could make sense of a Balance Sheet or P&L Statement. That's why I was enthused about an accomplished business man in the Oval Office.

Trump did amazing things for our country. His downfall was trusting Deep Swamp creatures that feigned loyalty while trying to drain the Swamp. I also believe he could have tempered his Media insults and backed off on some of his Tweeting. Yes I know, those actions helped build his following.

Thank you biden. Now instead of having Canada build us a pipeline & insuring our energy independence, we will pay for the pipeline, not have it and buy oil from Russia. Someone told us that another person was in kahoots with Putkin.

I now see lots of oil tankers going South to Texas on the KCS-Canadian Pacific rail line.

As some of us have said for years on here already, it's always follow the money!

Warren Buffet is heavily invested in BNSF which owns the railways to move oil from point A to point B.

Every tanker car that passes over BNSF owned tracks nets Warren Buffet more profits.

Warren Buffet is a heavy contributor to the Democrat Party.

Need we say more?

The party really wanted biden to be President. One activist, I think with blm stated that he would be easy to push around and get what they want.

Looks like Buffet got what he wanted.

That’s not entirely true. The left also wants to make our access to fuel/energy more difficult.
