Why GOP states were RIGHT to reject Biden's unemployment handouts: 26 states that ended $300-a-week payments got up to THREE TIMES more people back to work, new figures show

U.S. states putting an early end to federal unemployment benefits saw a larger jump in local labor supply in June than those planning to maintain the $300 weekly supplement until early September, new data show, though there was no clear sign it had led to significantly more hiring.

State-level jobs data released earlier this month show that in the 26 states stopping benefits early an additional 174,000 people joined the labor force in June, by either taking jobs or beginning work searches, compared to 47,000 in the other states.

Citing workforce shortages, those 26 states terminated early at least one of the three pandemic unemployment insurance programs Congress enacted in March 2020 and extended twice. The Biden administration has said governors could restart the programs if they chose to.

People respond to economic incentives. I wonder what would happen if we adopted the Workfare system. That’s where, if you draw any form of public assistance (e.g., welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, rent subsidies, etc), you show up for work at 7AM at a public building and do whatever they deem necessary (window washing, cleaning toilets...whatever) and then leave at 5PM. If you have small children, you still show up, leaving your kids in daycare, which you pay for. It’s astonishing how many people switch to a “real” (read higher-paying) job.

So, people can go back to work - to pay for those that don’t?

More Red State subsidization of Blue States, with Joe getting his 10%.

The handouts are immoral.

PLUS Jao, the sphincter with feet, gets to claim lower unemployment numbers.

Still, you are more likely to get fed in TX restaurant than one in CA.

Wait a second.... If you pay people not to work, they won’t work and if you pay them to work, they’ll work? That’s crazy talk!

The Daily Mail is one of the best sources for unbiased US news. And it’s foreign, of course.
