A meeting Monday evening in which the Fox Chapel Area School District approved a universal indoor mask mandate for its facilities became heated when some in attendance began jeering board members and one man raised his arm in a Nazi salute toward the board.
The actions have now prompted a rebuke from the superintendent.
The incident occurred just after the board voted unanimously to approve the district’s health and safety plan and followed comments from about 20 members of the public who were closely split on whether a mask mandate should be implemented.
Superintendent Mary Catherine Reljac proposed adding an indoor mask mandate to the district’s health and safety plan at the beginning of the meeting, saying that requiring masks would help deter disruptions to education.
“In essence, if the district requires masking, it drastically reduces that chance that students would need to quarantine due to being a close contact of an infected individual,” Ms. Reljac said. “This also drastically reduces the chance for educational and programmatic disruptions.”
Still, many of those in attendance argued that the decision to wear masks should be left up to parents.
“All that we asked for was parental choice,” said Shannon Browell, of O’Hara. “Instead, you’ve decided to take it upon yourselves to tell us what is good or right for our children. That’s not your right. Do you want to know how I know that’s not your right? Because God gave me my children — not you. You see, God is who I chose to follow, not man.”

If you want to ‘protect’ your child, make them wear a mask. If someone following the science, not the propaganda, cares about the health and well being of their child then their child won’t be told BY THEIR PARENTS to wear a mask.
Just curious, we’re the parents passing around a petition to recall all the board members?
Awesome that folks are pushing back, but if these board members know nothing will happen to them, what do they care. Kind of like Congressional Democrats.
I wonder what the children in this country think about all of this. Have they become so easily trained to do whatever *any* adults says to them? Or is there a building hatred of rules set forth by schools, politicians, theaters, arenas, restaurants, etc.?

Do you think they give a damn about what parents think?
Because they do not. They are going to do as they please because they know there will be no consequences beyond a few parents they hold in low esteem making a little noise at a meeting. They have cops there to protect them. Why would they need “protection”? They know exactly what they are doing and we can all go pound sand as far as they care.
Pull your kids out of the public schools. Then fight them like crazy.

In order to ensure the district loses the money that follows the kid, parents have to formally withdraw the student.

They all need to show up to these meeting dressed in BROWN SHIRTS and Raise thier hand while yelling SIEG HEIL at every Pause.
Also, NYS is going one better.
The state DoH has refused to issue new guidelines for schools.
So our just as pernicious Dept of Ed has stepped up.
First act: telling parents of kids who play sports that the kids might be allowed to play if they aren’t vaxxed.

Mask mandates are a gigantic CYA move.
If someone gets sick at their school/business/venue and there isn’t a mask mandate, it is at best bad optics and at worst a potential lawsuit.
There is little upside to not requiring masks. Some people will be grateful, but gratitude has a short half-life.

Well...’the science’ says youth are drastically less affected by the China Virus, and masks create their own significant health hazards.
That’s not propaganda, just ‘the science’ that others choose to see.
I suspect the masks will create significant school disruptions (Super. Karen’s repeated concern).
I also think that our youth developing herd immunity is good.
School staff can wear N95 or better masking to protect themselves.

Don’t send your kids to a school that’s endangering them, simple as that. Form your own school at a local church or community center.
It also lowers blood oxygen levels and increases heart rate.
Conversely, the odds of a child (with no other health problems) dying from covid is virtually zero--as in less than 1 in 1,000.
These are they kinds of risk analysis parents should be making when deciding if their child should wear a mask all day. And it is following the science.
I suspect the school boards mandating masks are following the lawyers. If they don't mandate masks, and a child catches covid and dies, the resulting lawsuit would be massive. So, they mandate masks.
