Afghanistan veteran MP says Taliban takeover has caused "anger, grief and rage" - BBC News

Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat, a veteran who served in Afghanistan, told MPs in the UK's House of Commons about his fears of a "forever war". He told MPs the past week felt like "the abandonment of not just a country but the sacrifice that my friends made".

Mr Tugendhat has been among the most critical British politicians in recent days, raising concerns about the speed of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

He says it is not just soldiers but aid workers and diplomats "who feel the same".

At about 3:40, he begins talking about how the UK and other nations can no longer be in position where they are dependent on another nation, another leader, to make their decisions. At about 3:40 he talks about forming new stronger alliances, within Europe and beyond like Japan and Australia, that exclude the US and makes decisions independent of US.

Joe Biden has really blown a hole the size of Afghanistan in our foreign policy and alliances that will take generations to fix.

"Joe Biden has really blown a hole the size of Afghanistan in our foreign policy and alliances that will take generations to fix. "

Until Russia and/or China start making moves on the EU, Australia or New Zealand. Then watch how fast that "hole" closes up.

Trump said that very thing and the Brits and Euros condemned him. He wanted them all to step forward and carry their own weight.....they called him a nationalist.

The talk of those countries learning to stand up on their own is good and consistent with what Trump was selling.

But the idea of specifically forming alliances that exclude the US, and that are intended as a counterbalance to the US is a new ominous direction.

The specific leader he is talking about is Joe Biden, so yes a committee would be better. Or a dog. Or a ping pong ball.

It’s not new. That was the whole thing behind forming the EU.

This is an interesting video from the Brits perspective. You can feel the “rage” (British controlled rage) in this MP’s voice. Agree with his sentiments or not, you know a line has been crossed.

The "forever war" was a lie. We didn't lose a single life in the last 18 months of Trump's President. That must have been a record if we were in a war.

We had control of a middle eastern nation and base of operation to combat Islamic terrorism. With no causalities in 18 months, that was one helluva an advantage for the bargin price of $42 billion that we pissed away. And, worse, we turned the nation over to a terrorist group that will fund and sponsor terrorism against our country. Stupid, stupid, stupdi.
