When the Peter Principle applies to the Oval Office, you get disaster

According to Wikipedia, the Peter Principle is described as "a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their 'maximum level of incompetence; employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.'" There is no greater example of this premise than our present occupier of the Oval Office, President Joe Biden.

During the decades Biden spent in the Senate, he was merely one of a hundred senators. He thus embodied just one percent of the legislative process in but one of two legislative bodies. The laws passed by those bodies were subject to executive and judicial review and reversal by presidential veto or court decree. At the senatorial level, Biden was a small cog in the big governmental machine. He was forgiven for being "Joe being Joe," in the same way baseball star Manny Ramirez was just "Manny being Manny." So what if he did a little inappropriate groping of little girls or hair-sniffing of grown women? "C'mon, man! Give the old guy a break."

The voters in Delaware were content to return Joe to the Senate every six years. His legislative contributions were minor or nonexistent. So what if it was suggested that he was on the wrong side of every foreign policy issue during his tenure?

But then along came Barack Obama, and everything changed. The president-to-be chose Biden as his running mate because of what Obama later claimed to be "a gut feeling" that Biden was right for the job.

Biden lent years of service to the relative newcomer Obama but was enough of a lightweight to pose no threat

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah, we left the Constitution behind.
Obama was born a British subject/Kenyan national WHEREVER he was born.
He is NOT a natural born citizen.
He came back from Indonesia an Indonesian citizen, that’s why he used SS# 042-68-4425 that belonged to someone else for most of his adult life.
The Republicans and media keep giving Biden cover. He is not clueless.
He has intentionally caused chaos in Afghanistan just has he has along our southern border. Just as the Democrats have in our inner cities and in the elections.
It is all by design. It is all intentional. They want to burn it all down and are to a good job at it.
In politics (and in today’s workplaces) one can rise two or three levels above one’s maximum level of incompetence. Biden did. Harris too.
“ because of a perfect storm of a COVID pandemic, a corrupt media, and a badly divided Democrat party, old Sleepy Joe is the POTUS”
That is NOT why Biden is president.
RE: Biden and a Harris both Petered out in the Senate.
In Harris’ case she Petered out after college. It was the influential Downtown Willie Brown who helped her career for the sexual favors she gave him.
Jimmy Carter was the Peter principle in Action.
Joe Biden is the Manchurian Candidate in Action.
One leverages mainly incompetence. The other leverages malignant intent. (For them, incompetence is a happy side effect which they can blame deliberate actions on.
And in mature corporations, decades of this produces massive incompetence at all levels. It’s quite interesting to witness.
I’m a firm believer that the Peter Principle is spot on.
I read the Peter Principle book back in the 1970’s and have seen it in practice over the years with various co-workers and in gov’t. Some people just fail upward.
Satan must be behind and he does it to amuse himself.
I hadn’t heard of Parkinson’s Law. Thanks for the education, and I agree!
