The lesson I learned. Never ever short a lithium battery or any battery for that matter. I later read you cant replace those batteries. Just throw the phone away and buy another (Chinese) phone. I hate it.
As long as you pretend you are saving lives, or saving the planet, you don’t need to follow any pesky safety protocols anymore.

Texas is 1000 miles on I-10 (East/West). I do not think I’d want to drive an EV through west Texas (needing FULL A/C), and having to stop every 150 miles to plug it in for what, 6-8 hours to charge to 90%?

The Volt was a hybrid. The Bolt is full EV.
The purpose of imposing EVs is societal control.
The grid in many areas can’t handle the existing load, so when the rats effectively outlaw the internal combustion engine, they will ration electricity to rat cities and starve rural Deplorables.

I read where the effective mpg for electrical cars is 5.9 might when you factor in the costs of running a generator to produce the electricity at commercial charging stations.
This will help either.... No way will you survive a fire in a electric vehicle.
Plus as a added bonus you can burn down your home charging the death trap up. Leave it outside and car thieves will not touch it as no one would buy it.

We are lucky that we both like smaller, high MPG cars. The internal combustion engine we have today works at least 3x better than what we had 30 years ago. Also puts out minimal pollution. This is the product of years and billions invested in R&D
So now the eco-idiots want to toss out all this.
My relative has a Toyota Prius. On the highways when it is exclusively powered by burning gasoline. She gets above 40mpg. On the internet, claims for new Prius are 50MPG highway due to its gasoline engine being a puny 96 horsepower. Plus it’s very aerodynamic design that eco-people will accept. But is downright ugly to me.

I looked it up and my Nissan Sentra gets about 149 HP as opposed to the 96 HP Prius.
The Sentra accelerates very well — good enough for me. Now to get over 400 HP electric vehicle, you can always buy a Tesla — and pay three times the price.
Even still, I think the Japanese feel they can get the horsepower up in the next ten years to give the gasoline powered cars a run for the money.
For them, it makes sense since they have no local oil or gas production in their country. For their economy, it makes sense to push the envelope with electric cars. For the American consumer, no.
When Trump gets back in the saddle, maybe we’ll get gas prices down to $2.00 a gallon again!
Compare the Prius gasoline engine horsepower at 96 to Honda’s shrimp-mobile, the Honda Fit. This Honda at least has a 130HP engine, that with the Fit’s lower weight accelerates it quite nicely. With 40 MPG on the highways for the Fit. I have driven the Honda Fit so I know how it handles.
What I really like is the Toyota Martix which was discontinued in 2016. If someone gave me 23000 dollars I had to spend on a new automobile... I would buy a Honda H-RV or Hyundai Kona. Maybe a Toyota CH-R but I have been disappointed by two Toyotas I have owned. So am no longer a customer. Screw Toyota.
Traffic is very congested in and nearby Japanese cities. With all that stop n go traffic, hybrids make sense. And you know why. That when braking in their awful traffic, the Prius and other hybrids capture the braking energy to recharge the battery.
Take New York City pre-pandemic. With its very congested traffic, many Prius were put into service as taxicabs. My situation is minimal congested traffic, so no hybrids for me. Also hybrids are always more expensive, even if you live in a heavy traffic area.
So buying a Nissan Sentra for $5000 less, you have more money left over to pay for gasoline. My own guess is that Toyota under prices the Prius, does not make much money on it. Because it sees hybrids and pure EVs as the cars of the future. Via under pricing, this expands the Prius market for Toyota. Gets people accustomed to buying Toyota hybrids.
