Why Labor Unions Are Dying in the USA

In honor of Labor Day, the United Auto Workers recapped some union history last week; tellingly, most of it was misleading or more than a century old.

The UAW trotted out bumper sticker rhetoric like “the elimination of child labor, establishing the 8-hour workday as well as the weekend, raising the standards for education, skill levels, wages, working conditions, quality of life for all workers, and a voice in the workplace.”

Like good leftists, they explained that their mission has a long way to go, including “fighting voter suppression bills.”

The voter suppression claim is intriguing, considering how anti-immigrant and racist national unions like the American Federation of Labor always were.

Back in 1954, roughly 35 percent of American workers belonged to a union. Today, it’s only around 10 percent, but more than one in three public-sector workers remain unionized, five times the rate of their private-sector brethren.

Last year, union membership decreased by nearly 430,000 people in the private sector, yet showed little change in the public sector, where taxpayer-funded salaries and benefits remain higher than ever.

Franklin Roosevelt may have done more than any president to assist organized labor, but FDR still realized unions had no place in government, writing in 1937 that “all government workers should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service.”

The 32nd commander-in-chief added that strikes by public employees were “unthinkable and intolerable.”

Because illegals that the party they support and funnel money into supports undercutting them. Quite frankly, good riddence. Corrupt to the core!

Labor unions force you to be paid as an average worker. The more productive half “pays” for the less productive half. If you believe in yourself, why would you want to join a union? True, sometimes you must join (NEA) to work in that field, but if it were me, I’d be fighting it all the way.

No one did them any more harm to them than they did to themselves. I’ve read some of the UAW/Chrysler case on Jalopnik and it was incredible.

I wouldn’t say they’re dying just yet. Many of them are now UNSKILLED labor unions like the SEIU. I’ve heard some of them say that doctors are being paid too much and they’re underpaid. Many of them seem to forget that they’re uneducated dropouts and ex convicts.

SEIU union members are just they type they bring into voting precincts in Detroit, Philly, Milwaukee, Atlanta, etc. They’re thugs that try to intimidate anyone that doesn’t agree with them.

Then you can add teachers unions. I certainly wouldn’t call all of them educated. Many are their for what they can get out of the system and that’s all that matters.

Unions aren’t going away. They’ve just had to go to the bottom of the barrel to find their members.

Because they flooded the country with unlimited cheap labor. Unions have no room to bargain. Plus multiculturalism creates a low trust culture and thus people are less likely to form unions.

The unions have been a disaster—but miraculously they may be the last line of defense against the Pfascist mandatory vaxxers.

No union ever has, ever will or ever could create a single job. Not one.

The communists proclaim their support for private sector unions while enacting every law and regulation possible to destroy the industries those unions operate within.

Coal and mining are targeted for elimination. These are highly unionized industries.

Automobiles are targeted to be electrified, which will require far less union workers.

Because people are buying fewer of their products? I’d be curious to know how many union members choose “made by communists” over more expensive union made products.

I was in the Teamsters Union when Hoffa was on trial.

The UNION added $1 a month to each union member’s dues-—TO PAY FOR HOFF’S Lawyers when he was on trial for stealing out Pension funds !!!!!!!!

Made me furious.

Unions are for less than able lazy people. I’m surprised Obama didn’t created an Office of the President Union.

When Joe Birdbrain gets his “Infrastructure” bill passed, the unions will receive CPR that will make them stronger than ever.
