Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.
UK Top Gear (back when it was good) invited the Australian Top Gear presenters to do a show in Blighty. To make them feel at home they transported them in prison vans. And they had to maneuver cars while upside down, just so they’d feel at home.
The Collins class were fine - eventually. It did take a long time to iron the bugs out.
But nuclear is the way to go - it’s always been seen as politically impossible here though. I’m astonished, but very glad, the Morrison government seems willing to take on the domestic anti-nuclear lobby.
I saw that show : )
I had a job lined up working the collins class, Oz cut me off at the knees and just did crap for 40 years, welcome back mates, I would have gone to Alice springs, but a Sheila come along in Hawaii
I think the deal they did with the French called for the first one or two boats to be built in France and the rest in Australia.
...but that part of the article about “deteriorating strategic environment” makes me think they may get a few “loaners” at minimum.
The Brits probably need the Astutes they have in commission. Better to try and increase production to produce one or two for down under.
Great result. China is mighty unhappy!
