Attorney General Ken Paxton just got another Republican primary challenger, but this time it is someone who has been close to him for years: state Rep. Matt Krause.
The Fort Worth lawmaker and founding member of the House Freedom Caucus says he is running as the “faithful conservative fighter,” hoping to bring a similar conservative ideology to the position that Paxton is known for — but without the legal troubles that have dogged him for most of his time in office.
Krause is the third serious primary opponent to announce against Paxton. The field already includes Land Commissioner George P. Bush and Eva Guzman, the former justice on the Texas Supreme Court.
As an original member of the Freedom Caucus — and currently its secretary and treasurer — Krause has played a role in pushing his party to the right in recent years. ***
Before joining the House, Krause worked as a lawyer for Liberty Counsel, a religious freedom group. He has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 2007.

From what I know, Ken Paxton is a great AG and definitely should be re-elected.
I sure don’t see a benefit for Texas from these others.
According to Mark Davis Mr. Paxton has not done enough to warrant a firing. Same with the Gov. but I would think that after 8 years a change is due and Alan West is an opportunity that shouldn’t be passed.
Matt Krause needs to take care of his own district/job.
Paxton has this Texan’s support.
Especially over Jorge P Bush, ANY day.
Why do Rs always do this? They invite a Dem win, by doing this kind of nonsense.
Matt Krause should receive 100s of phone calls, today....telling him to butt out of this race.
Hmmmmm. Is he running interference? 3 primary challengers against an incumbent would seem to harm each other.
Apparently as of now, it's Paxton, Bush, Guzman, and Krause.
PAXTON ALL THE WAY! Say no to assistant democRATS.
Well, the left will CREATE legal problems for Krause. That goes without saying.
Interesting hypothesis. Apparently Krause is a friend of Paxton and discussed the run with Paxton before announcing.
West is considering a run for governor, not AG.
Where is he on the Patriots currently held as political prisoners???????????
Nothing in the msm, nothing on twit, just NOTHING!
Paxton is about as conservative an AG as you could hope for. The ginned up charges against him are just lawfare intended to discredit him and drain his funds, a typical leftist tactic. He’ll win in the long run, but the process is designed to grind him down.
Yes.
Paxton is a great AG!! No reason to get rid of him.
Without question the securities probe against Paxton have been politically motivated to hobble his effectiveness as AG.
But unfortunately, George P. is a shoo-in for this race just because of the name. Even among republicans, name recognition beats policy every time.
Exactly.
IMHO, Ken Paxton has done a very good job as Texas AG.
Yes, he has. And he has the guts to ignore threats from the left, almost Trump-style. Any other RINO politician would have crumbled by now.
More and more I view west as a political carpetbagger who’s out more for himself than he is Texas.
While I respect his conservative talk, he certainly hasn’t walked it in any one place or position for very long.
Dunno about that
I voted for Bush senior once and never voted for another one of them and will not under any circumstance

More likely he’s being encouraged to run to split off a slice of the conservative vote so Jorge Bush can get a plurality through name recognition by low information voters. Yet another Bush/GOPe trick. DESPICABLE!
STAY OUT DA BUSHES!
