MSNBC political commentator and author George Will said Friday on “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that former president Donald Trump demonstrated how rapidly one man with a “lack of conscience” can change the entire tone of public life for the worse.
Mitchell said, “In your new book, you write that it has been well said that the United States is the only nation founded on a good idea, the proposition that people should be free to pursue happiness as they define it. In recent years, however, happiness has been elusive for this nation in which too many people think and act as tribes and define their happiness as some other tribe’s unhappiness. How do we get out of this predicament?”

These 2 minutes of hate brought to you by ....
George will shows how a man thaT Has been totally blinded by TDS can be so wrong so often
In the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949), by George Orwell, the Two Minutes Hate is the daily, public period during which members of the Outer Party of Oceania must watch a film depicting the enemies of the state, specifically Emmanuel Goldstein and his followers, to openly and loudly express hatred for them.
The political purpose of the Two Minutes Hate is to allow the citizens of Oceania to vent their existential anguish and personal hatreds towards politically expedient enemies: Goldstein and the enemy superstate of the moment. In re-directing the members’ subconscious feelings away from the Party’s government of Oceania, and towards non-existent external enemies, the Party minimises thoughtcrime and the consequent, subversive behaviours of thoughtcriminals.
I think this mental confusion is a result of wearing his bow tie too tight.
I am amazed (more than disheartened) when a person of experience and intellect (i.e., one who possesses wisdom) sacrifices each of these gifts to pure emotion. In Will’s case this devolvement is particularly depressing to witness as he also possesses the God-given gift of excellent communication. Very sad indeed and I wish sincerely for George Will’s recovery from his emotionally induced fog.
The country was in good shape at the end of Trump’s term except for covid. What’s Will talking about?
Just effin die already...
Go play with your baseball cards, georgie, we see right through your dead soul spittlegeisrt.

I do not understand your response, seems a bit snarky to me. Please explain yourself.
Friday afternoon dump.
Well, either one of them is wrong or they are both wrong. The "good idea" upon which America was founded was NOT to be free to pursue happiness as self-defined.
America was founded upon the idea that the individual has the legal standing, via the "laws of nature and nature's God" to claim the right to Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. To pursue happiness does not mean "happiness" as "I define it." Happiness can only be achieved if our choices are in concert with said Laws of nature and nature's God.
Thus "our Constitution was meant for a moral and religious people." Virtue and true freedom (the gift of God) are essential partners. Mitchell, instead, is describing licentiousness. . .which is the "freedom" promoted by the media-driven hedonistic popular culture that leads to self-destructive behaviors, bad habits, and the demise of civil society. George Will is a Jerk.
