I just can’t get around Beck’s behavior before Trump was elected. He was a moron and that’s what sticks out to me so I can’t even read the article.

Oh, dear.

No worries....obviously Pres Trump has gotten around it.

Maybe you can move on, too.

🙄

“There is no way Trump would have left anything for them.”

You might want to consider that we spent billions training an Afghan force to protect themselves so we could bail out, mostly, and they would need equipment to do so. And there was still a wish for Bagram Air Base to remain open in a multi force capacity as it was the closest base, with a huge runway, to the Chinese border. What Biden didn’t consider was the Afghans folding up shop in the first week and not using that equipment.

But they did need it. You can’t train a military force and then take their tools away from them.

You know at the very least they could have collected all the leftover vehicles, helicopters, small arms, whatever in a pile in some barren part of Afghanistan (no shortage of such areas) and just bombed it to scrap.

They should do it now. Veterans with friends in the right places. Gas up, load 'em up, and go hunting. That would be so awesome. They might accidentally bag a few ChiCom advisors in the process.

Wiki:

AH-64E Apache Guardian
One of the revolutionary features of the Apache was its helmet mounted display, the Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System (IHADSS); among its capabilities, either the pilot or gunner can slave the helicopter’s 30 mm automatic M230 Chain Gun to their helmet, making the gun track head movements to point where they look. The M230E1 can be alternatively fixed to a locked forward firing position, or controlled via the Target Acquisition and Designation System (TADS). On more modern AH-64s, the TADS/PNVS has been replaced by Lockheed Martin’s Arrowhead (MTADS) targeting system.

Formerly known as AH-64D Block III, in 2012, it was redesignated as AH-64E Guardian to represent its increased capabilities. The AH-64E features improved digital connectivity, the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, more powerful T700-GE-701D engines with upgraded face gear transmission to accommodate more power, capability to control unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), full IFR capability, and improved landing gear. New composite rotor blades, which successfully completed testing in 2004, increase cruise speed, climb rate, and payload capacity. Deliveries began in November 2011.

Full-rate production was approved on 24 October 2012, with 634 AH-64Ds to be upgraded to AH-64E standard and production of 56 new-build AH-64Es to start in 2019/20.[318] Changes in production lots 4 through 6 shall include a cognitive decision aiding system and new self-diagnostic abilities. The updated Longbow radar has an oversea capacity, potentially enabling naval strikes; an AESA radar is under consideration. The E model is to be fit for maritime operations.

The Army has expressed a desire to add extended-range fuel tanks to the AH-64E to further increase range and endurance. AH-64Es are to have the L-3 Communications MUM-TX datalink installed in place of two previous counterparts, communicating on C, D, L, and Ku frequency bands to transmit and receive data and video with all Army UAVs. Lots 5 and 6 will be equipped with Link 16 data-links. As of April 2020, 500 AH-64Es have been delivered.

That’s what the CCP’s PLAAF got free, courtesy of the Biden Admin.

Sure he did. It was part of the plan - everyone knows the ‘Afghan Army’ could not function without US support - he took that away and it naturally collapsed. They were trained to the level of knowing right from left, understanding what some squiggles and indicators meant, but reading was a no go, just like hanging around after payday ; a trained Afghani is not like a trained European, say.

Trumps major fault was the people he surrounded himself with.

he’s doing it again too.

At least Beck had the b@!!s to apologize for his doubting DJT.
Aug 2020
Talk radio host Glenn Beck on Thursday issued a public mea culpa for fiercely opposing President Trump in 2016 and warning on air that Mr. Trump was an aspiring despot. Mr. Beck said Mr. Trump proved him wrong on nearly every count, not only by keeping his seemingly impossible campaign promises but more importantly by displaying deep humanity. “I am feeling so humbled this week. I feel truly horrible for the things I said and believed in 2016 about @realDonaldTrump,” Mr. Beck said in a series of tweets.

I thought he had apologized earlier than 2020.( hadn't listened to him since the 'Washington Rally")

Trump knew the 300,000 member Afghan Army number was bogus.

He said most of them were there for the paycheck, (just like DEMONCRAT Voters), and as soon as those stopped they were gone.

He may have wanted to leave nothing but geography and geopolitics made that physically impossible. USAF has maybe 250 C17s. No way to remove all the large equipment and no friendly airfields to remove them to near enough to allow maximum loads. Also in order to keep up appearances equipment and supplies had been handed over to the Afghan Army and these account for much of the equipment now in the Tally’s possession.

They would never be able to prove that it is cheaper to leave assets like that. It is quite obvious that having the asset after purchasing it is cheaper than trashing a new asset and then re-purchasing it to replace something you trashed for no good reason other than to avoid the cost of transport.

This is not sunk cost fallacy here, just common sense.

I agree. Beck has come around. I think he has served his penance.

I’ve forgiven Levin, I guess its time to forgive Glenn. (but, NEVER forget)

I’ll never have use for Beck, Levin, or Cruz again.

These three turned our party leaders against Trump, and we
got far less out of the majority we had, than we otherwise
would have.

I’ll never forget it.

They have no clue what an atmosphere of self-defeatism they
ushered in.

It makes me angry to look at them, all pompous and puffed
up with pride as they now pretend to be Conservatives.

No Conservative I know would stand silent for months as
Hillary Clinton almost walked away with the win.

Pretenders is all they are...

Trump told Glenn that his plan included maintaining Bagram Air Base and explained why he would not have left "a single nail" behind in Afghanistan for the Taliban to seize.

Hang on to Bagram Air Base why? The agreement Trump signed with the Taliban said all U.S. troops would be removed. And take all the arms and equipment we provided to the Afghan Army with us then what is there to support? Without an army the Afghan government would fold in an instant leaving the U.S. to do what exactly?

You are dead wrong about Levin.

Levin has more than made up for his early ignorance about Trump.

Beck has always been a loose cannon emotionally. I never really warmed up to him because of his crying and claims of terminal illnesses throughout the years. His behavior during the election cycle basically solidified what I always thought: he was and still is (imo) a moron.

yeah, glad he apologized but like Levin, their careers of bloviating were seriously impacted after trashing Trump on a daily basis. Listeners were turning them off in droves. So they apologized to stop the hemorrhaging. I don't think either has fully recovered though.

I’m not dead wrong about Levin.

He didn’t have the sense to favor Trump over Clinton for months
on end.

There’s no undoing that.
