Masks for thee, not for me.
That might be the most enduring message from this Sunday's Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. Will "Ted Lasso" and "The Crown," this year's big winners, join the pantheon of unforgettable TV series? Perhaps, but unlikely.
"The Handmaid's Tale," the television adaptation of Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel and feminist grievance culture's favorite parable about modern conservatism, set a record for most Emmy losses in a single season, according to Deadline. ("The Handmaid's Tale" not getting the appreciation it deserves feels almost like we're living in "The Handmaid's Tale.")
Ratings were up over the lows for 2020's virtual ceremony, according to TV Line, with 7.4 million average viewers. That was still less than half what the competing "Sunday Night Football" telecast got, however."
But the masks. Let's talk about the masks -- or the lack thereof:
New: LA County Department of Public Health tells me that the mask-less Emmys were not in violation of the county's mask mandate because "exceptions are made for film, television, and music productions” since “additional safety modifications” are made for such events.

So we can walk around mask free “filming” everything with a cell phone and it should be OK, right? I mean all these You-tubers and their “film productions”....
It’s not a Covid violation if they exempt them. LOL
They can do whatever they want, say whatever they want. Who is going to stop them?
Celebrity worship is a common disease in modern day America.
Exactly. Now, settle down peasant.
Or Obama’s party where we were told that it was ok because they were “sophisticated people”.
If people were truly worried about it they should drop 20 pounds and start taking better care of themselves.
there is no magic fairy dust for better overall health. 50% or more of Americans are overweight. That’s killing way more people than Covid.
Imagine a disease so selective that it avoids actors, actresses, and politicians. They’re special all right, just not that kind of special.
The “additional safety modifications” were bribes paid to LA County regulators.
Life is easy when you know the rules!
I have to believe everyone laughs at this hypocrisy and if they hear the story/excuse just shake their heads. Too bad the voters of CA can’t wake up from their wokeness.
“Imagine a disease so selective that it avoids actors, actresses, and politicians. They’re special all right, just not that kind of special.”
And it affects only males and females. Not a single one of the other 42 genders has reportedly gotten it.
“These are People Who Matter! How can you compare them to those dirty plebes out th...I mean, the little people who love us and need our constant guidance and correction?” :)
More proof, as if it were frickin’ needed, that CoupFlu has NEVER been about public health.
Does anyone have info on that Bar Mitzvah they held in the height of wu-flu wave 1 where they just put a “george floyd memorial” sign up or something like that so they could have the party?
I swear the interwebz have been scrubbed of it.
How quickly we have forgotten Angela Marsden.
"This week (Dec. 5, 2020), as Los Angeles County announced it would lock down all outdoor dining, a video went viral. That video featured restaurant owner Angela Marsden, proprietor of the Pineapple Hill Saloon and Grill, decrying the lockdown policy while pointing to the erection of production catering set up for a Hollywood shoot just a few feet away. "Everything I own is being taken away from me, and they set up a movie company right next to my outdoor patio," Marsden said, adding that she has spent approximately $80,000 complying with the requirements of LA County, only to see it shut down her business completely. There is no scientific policy justifying LA County's outdoor-dining shutdown. In fact, during a Board of Supervisors meeting, a community member quizzed LA County Health Officer Dr. Muntu Davis on the evidence to support such a ban. Muntu provided no such evidence, likely because there is none."
Nussalini declared Hollywood as an essential business early on during the pandemic. I never understood that.
Correct.
