and as for the article, its laughable to call Georgia or Arizona blue states. We all know the massive amounts of fraud that went on there - not to mention in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

In any hypothetical secession scenario, I doubt many states would hold together. For example, Minnesota outside of Minneapolis, is a sea of red. Ditto Illinois outside of Chicago....Michigan outside of Detroit...Pennsylvania (with far less blue Pittsburgh) outside of Philadelphia, Virginia outside of the 3 DC Suburb counties of Occupied Northern Virginia, even New York outside of NYC, Nevada outside of Vegas, Colorado outside of Denver, Oregon outside of the Williamette Valley, Washington outside of the Puget Sound, etc.

Would all those people in those states outside of those large cities allow themselves to be ruled over by those cities - or would they too head for the exit and take their counties with them if they saw the exit sign of red states seceding/blue states seceding? I suspect they would take the opportunity to free themselves of the rule of those big cities.

I agree. More decentralization/more states rights is exactly what is needed. Alabama should be free to be Alabama and Vermont should be free to be Vermont within the framework of the constitution.

The problem is that while those of us on the Right will agree with that, that is anathema to those on the Left. They want more centralized power. They want power over others. Giving up the chance to exercise power over others is not something they will ever agree to unless it comes with a very credible threat that trying to exercise that power over others will result in those others not only fighting back but likely winning or doing massive harm to them.

We cannot coexist with the communists. Splitting the nation avoids the inevitable collapse and suffering.

Only temporarily. Once the communists sink into the hell of their own making, they will still be jealous of the Free and will wage war, only now they will be vessel states of china and we will be fighting both on our own soil.

Exactly. Would it have been so awful had Lincoln not started a bloodbath but instead had simply let the original 7 seceding states go in peace? There would be 3 Democracies north of the Rio Grande instead of 2. So what?

Are you “horrified” that Canada exists? Does it harm the US that not all of the territory north of the Rio Grande is incorporated into one country? Has that impoverished anybody or denied anybody their freedom? Of course not. We trade and do business with Canada and have long had very good relations - we are after all both products of the British Empire. Both speak English, have the common law, have a free market, are democratic, believe in individual rights, etc etc.

There is no reason to think it would have been any different with the CSA vis a vis the USA. They could have gotten along, done business with each other and had good relations. In fact, the credible threat of secession by the states would act as a very effective brake on the power of the federal government to be oppressive or abusive toward some states in favor of others or the special interests in others.

Are you saying that Republicans who want to reach across the aisle are misguided?

LOL! The South lost their rebellion over 150 years ago and you Lost Causers are still whining and complaining about it. Had the North lost what makes you think they would have been any more adult about it?

We cannot coexist with the communists.

And yet our side was stupid enough to ship our manufacturing to them.

That and abolish the Department of Education, thank you Jimmah you bastard, and END TENURE. Or even easier yet, just enact a tax credit for education for k-12 and let the parents have the cash to spend on the school of their choice.

Could you imagine how fast schools would correct themselves if the parents controlled the money rather than multiple bureaucratic agencies!

I knew we could count on you to come along and be unable to discuss the point like an adult.

There is no reason to think 3 countries all of which were products of Britain, could not have gotten along just fine, traded with each other and prospered. The US and Canada have done so for over 200 years.

I’m not sure I like that idea. We already see how big cities choke off all the areas around them and how bad ideas escape big liberal urban areas and filter out to the lesser wannabe activists and supporters. How would the dynamic between the 2 work?

I completely agree. Fact is I do think the southern states had the right to secede back in the 19th century, but I’m really glad they didn’t. This country strength is in its size. And that matters in an ever more dangerous world. However if it becomes the bad guy all bets are off.

Exactly. Would it have been so awful had Lincoln not started a bloodbath but instead had simply let the original 7 seceding states go in peace?

Would it have been horrible if the slave states hadn't seceded for no better reason that to preserve their right to slave labor?

Please don't dirty this issue by comparing it to that.

The communists will have no military. They will be easily taken over by China and become a vassal state with no autonomy at all.

Fighting China seems inevitable.

The fact that you think we need those on the left to win is amusing.

Ok, let’s use Texas as an example. Texas Secedes and becomes the Republic of Texas AGAIN. Years later, liberals, the equivalent of rats in a sewer, infiltrate into Texas and vote it in to oblivion like they are doing California.

Until the foregoing question is answered, I don’t support secession but do support the Convention of States and strict enforcement of existing Constitutional Amendments and most particularly the Tenth Amendment.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Original wording of the Tenth Amendment

Right.

Of course, defenders of Lincoln’s War will claim that it was necessary in order to end slavery - which is preposterous.

The fact that you think it will be easier to fight china once they have North American bases in California and New York is amusing.

1. We have crushing, crippling debt.
2. Our elections have been proven to be rife with fraud, rigged through any type of crime and NOTHING is done about it.
3. We have NO southern border.
4. Our two party system consistently fails us as witnessed when Big Tech began censoring free speech in Nov 2020 and NOTHING was done or has been done to protect speech.
5. Military commanders who commit treasonous acts are not tried for their crimes but allowed to stay in their jobs —case in point, Mark Milley.
6. We are suffering military disasters without any competent resolution—only show hearings.
7. The federal government is consistently removing our freedoms with ever increasing mandates taking away careers, livelihoods, and the ability to support one’s family.

I’m sure the list goes on. It’s early morning and these are just a few items off the top of my head.

The article referenced is a headline grabbed to fill space. This type of stuff has been going on for years between the left and right. You’ve all seen the memes before about Repubs and Dems getting a divorce. Remember?

The difference now is for the first time, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Google are allowed to censor speech without repercussions. You and I can no longer be certain that our one man one vote counts because of rampant fraud. Mandates are taking away our neighbors freedom of choice, forcing them to either get a vaccine or lose their careers, and this during a pandemic? Healthcare workers during a pandemic?

What freedoms will be lost next week, month?

There is a breaking point, even for people who are very complacent.
