I’m not sure why people (on any side of the political spectrum) think passing or not passing this will affect a State Election in any way.

You are thinking backwards.....The VA election may have an effect on the bill’s vote. If McAwful is beat bad enough it will scare the hell out of the Dems IMHO

I don't even think the text of the bill is even written yet, if this is just an agreement on the "framework."

My fear is that they double-down on the "you have to pass it to find out what's in it" strategy to now a "pass it and then we'll write it" scheme.

Then, it will a lot of general intent followed by "at the Secretary's discretion" mumbo jumbo that let's them make up the rules on the fly once the bill has been passed and signed.
