One of Mitt Romney’s arguments against eliminating Senate filibuster? Donald Trump could be elected president in 2024

Sen. Mitt Romney is defending the Senate filibuster as Democrats look to eliminate or find ways around the rule that continues to blunt their agenda.

And one of the arguments the Utah Republican uses against the idea is the “reasonable chance” that Donald Trump could be elected president and Republicans could control both houses in Congress in 2024.

“Have Democrats thought through what it would mean for them for Trump to be entirely unrestrained, with the Democratic minority having no power whatsoever? If Democrats eliminate the filibuster now, they — and the country — may soon regret it very much,” Romney wrote in a Washington Post op-ed.

Uni-party fear is growing after their little election hiccup.

The natives are restless, and the rulers are worried.

However it is a valid argument logicwise.

Perhaps the TDS types might find a few brain cells and do the simple arithmetic.

In a corralery I don’t think Democrats realize how dangerous it was for them to engage in election fraud in 2020.

While Dems might have some media monopoly in big tech, that situation can also change with true competition.

Trump being President for 4 years, no thoughts of reelection and unrestrained would be the things of legends.

I just hope he has figured out a better system than trusting his old business buddies and the Kushners for finding appointments who won’t undermine or embarrass him.

Because Donald Trump was (was and may be again) something he will never be.

Romney absolutely destroyed obama in that first debate....after that it was obvious (to me any way) for what ever reason he pumped th brakes in the rest of the debates to let that little commie catch up.

He’s not alone. The GOP is full of people who think like him.

I agree. And when you want to deter someone from doing something stupid you can posit the scenario they fear worst and use it to dissuade them from following that course of action. I think Romney has TDS but he is correct here.

****************

Biden will double down on his tyrannical rule just to show the little people whose in charge. Make no mistake, he deeply resents the election revolt and will tighten the screws on us. The GOP will stand mostly silent while he does it.

Expect things to get significantly worse in the coming months.

We are officially a kleptocracy now.

Pierre Delecto said nothing.

Does everyone here realize these morons pick up their scripts (if they’re still in good favor) and are told to read this crap in front of camera and microphone ops prepared for them.

Go here. Say this. That is the sum total of their intellect. Monkey’s selling hot dogs.

Then these jagaloons have follow up press events to reinforce their emptiness / hold on tight to their graft and corruption.

It’s all quite obvious.

Then as a final insult, they turn around and violate every principal they just fraudulently stood up for on their way back to Chappaquiddick.

Fenced compounds, gates, razor wire and all...

Eliminating the filibuster would give each RINO more power.

If he spent half the time and energy that he uses hating Trump to promoting issues that Republicans really care about, he would become a national hero!

Actually it will be worse IMO. They need to tamp down the emerging resistance.

Our entire system is broken down and dysfunctional so they can get away with it.

I have friends who claim to be Republicans...but complain that Trump “has too much baggage” to run again. I doubt they voted for him
