QUEENS — A 74-year-old former New York City barber has been indicted in the 1976 murder of a World War I veteran who went to his shop for a haircut and vanished, authorities said.
Martin Motta, of Queens, was arraigned Wednesday on a second-degree murder charge. He is accused of killing George Clarence Seitz, 81, on Dec. 10, 1976.
Seitz was last seen alive leaving his home in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens. Authorities located his dismembered remains in 2019 following a tip from a woman who said she witnessed his burial more than four decades earlier.
Authorities believe the motive for the Seitz’s killing was robbery. If convicted of the crime, Motta faces 25 years to life in prison.

We need more bounty hunters and private investigators working on this stuff for rewards only. Too many murders don’t get solved.
Good work by the nypd
Doesn’t the perp get released until the trial? That “bail” thing is so 20th century, ya know?
Mystery novels notwithstanding, as a general rule a murder doesn’t get solved if someone doesn’t snitch, or in more contemporary cases if it wasn’t caught on video.
The Hillary defense: Gee, after all this time what possible difference can it make?
Add to your list DNA left at the crime.
More and more genetic genealogy is being used to narrow the list of perps through reverse genealogy.
25 years to life possible for a 74-year-old defendant? I suppose he could get “time off for good behavior” so the 25 years could be less than actually 25 years, but 25 years from now he will be 99 years old, so a life sentence could not be much longer.
Sweeney Todd redux. Was Mrs Lovett’s Pie Shop nearby?
LOL
True. Just this week in Lycoming County, Pa., investigators found and exhumed the bodies of two little sisters in a backyard.
They were 2 and 5 years old when they fell off the radar of CYS six years ago. The mother told social workers they were living with friends in New York state.
They believed her.
The father had been prevented from seeing or checking on them by a PFA the mother had taken out on him...for six years!
A new investigation was started in Sept. when this woman’s son was found by a doctor to be abused and neglected.
It didn’t take long to break down the lesbian couple who had custody of the children. One of them is singing like a bird. That is how cops and FBI found the location of the girls’ burials.
Right in the backyard on Livermore Rd., Hepburn Township, PA.

Warning: Have eye bleach handy...there are mugshots of the two “paramours.”
I loved the short lived series.
