I essentially agree on the motive and resulting actions part. On the Secession, I used to think that would work but we are no longer Red State vs Blue State. We are Red countryside vs Blue Urbanside, and that is mighty difficult to secede from or separate out by boundary lines.

NYC has the Sullivan gun Laws. Very strict, with draconian punishment. Cross the border and you are under their law. The rest of NYS is VERY different.
Easy enough to set the borders of the places that need to be separated. Contiguity is not absolutely necessary.
An Ambassador from a foreign country is not under US law, and travels freely within the US.
Lots of other examples. It can be done if there is a will to do it.

Understand. That has to be hashed out by each particular state.
I can foresee four separations. The NE states, the Extreme west coast, The great lakes states, and the upper Wisconsin and UP of Michigan..as well as maybe the northern part of Lower Michigan.
