There is no mandate. This is policy by hospital administrators. No one is making them do this.
Actually, there’s a CMS mandate that hospitals are scrambling to follow lest they lose Medicare and Medicaid funding. It’s an unspoken crisis right now. I have a number of nurses in my family who are holding out but will likely be unemployed by 4 January.
