Common behavior for dementia sufferers. They remember their oldest information on a subject, in this case a false memory or a lie, and relate it again as a true memory. They do this because they can’t recall any newer information, such as being corrected. The mind skips back right past that to the old memory.
He’ll tell again at some point even if he’s corrected again. He can’t help it.
