French politicians and French voters prefer higher wages to more chaotic migration, the New York Times complains in a critical report about the French presidential election.
“As French restaurants, hotels, construction companies and other services face a shortage of workers, politicians across the ideological spectrum have proposed raising wages, but not the number of immigrants allowed into the country,” says the December 2 report by the newspaper’s reporter, Norimitsu Onishi.
France’s economy is hobbled by the pro-French views of French voters and French politicians, and by the French dislike of the migrant jihadis who kill French people, according to the New York Times‘ reporter and his editors:
These concerns have had a cumulative effect in France — making any embrace of immigration political suicide, obstructing badly needed reforms to attract qualified workers from abroad and pushing inward a country once known as a global crossroads.
The article also served up a sustained criticism of a nationalist French author, Eric Zemmour, who announced his candidacy for the French presidency.
The announcement came in a 10-minute, November 30 video, where Zemmour recounted the historical accomplishments of the French people while promising to prevent the replacement of French people by migrants in their own homeland. “We won’t allow ourselves to be dominated, turned into vassals, conquered, colonized. We won’t allow ourselves to be replaced,” he said in the video, which is restricted by YouTube.com:
The NYTimes article insisted that Zemmour has violated a liberal taboo by suggesting that France could be changed by migration and diversity:
With Mr. Zemmour’s candidacy, the previously taboo topic of the “great replacement” — a conspiracy theory accusing politicians like Mr. Macron of using immigration to replace white, Christian people — has become part of the election discourse.

Mr. Zemmour is a son of Algerian Jews. His point is that immigrants to France need to assimilate and become French. As did the Algerian Jews, who, in their joy and relief from being liberated from Muslim oppression in 1830, attached themselves so closely to France that they became charter members of the pieds-noirs, as the French colonists in North Africa were known. They were also known for enlisting in the Zouaves, the infantry regiments raised from “white” non-Muslim natives of North Africa. Zouaves were Jewish? A lot were.
France was forced out of Algeria.
France once ran Lebanon and Syria.

You see they are not really jihadi(s), they are “qualified workers”.

Perhaps the inestimable [to the nadir] New York Times (NYT) has, again, gone ahistorical. France has a surfeit of immiscible immigrants deriving from its open borders to its former colonial possessions, to the point where there are no-go zones in almost all major cities, places where these migrants refuse to assimilate yet advantage themselves of generous social benefits.
France remembers the January 2015 Charlie Hebdo shootings, the November 2015 suicide attacks in Paris, the Bastille Day 2016 truck rampage in Nice etc. Somewhat diminished over recent years BUT these were also COVID years. So the NYT is seeking for international venues to behave like Biden with our Mexico Border.

Who needs Russian dis-information when we have the New York Times?
After a rather messy beginning, the French settled on having the Zouaves take the non-muslim soldiers, French colonists and other “white” residents of North Africa (native Sefardi Jews and Spaniards mainly) while the Tirailleurs took the Muslims.
The Chasseurs d’Afrique and the Spahis were the equivalents for the cavalry.
The Bats d’Af (les Zephyrs, les Joyeaux), were disciplinary units of “selected” troublemakers from the metropolitan army, and the Legion Etrangere was of course something else again. And then there were the Tirailleurs Senegalais, often present in North Africa, under the wing of the Navy, initialy, and then the Coloniale, not an official part of the Armee D’Afrique, but guys like Lyautey used them there anyway.
The Armee D’Afrique was an extremely colorful lot. In every way.

Less forced out than a cold blooded decision was made that it simply wasnt worth it. This was a sore point in France going back to at least the 1880’s. The colonies had become costly white elephants in the age of the industrial revolution and global free trade. There were various mad scrambles to make them pay for themselves, to no avail. De Gaulle coldly pulled the plug and evacuated the pieds noirs and the harkis.
