The Minneapolis man who tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in one of the US’s first cases has spoken out, saying it had not “crossed my mind” that he might have been exposed to the virus.
Peter McGinn, 30, who is fully vaccinated and received a booster shot, said he went out following the Anime NYC 2021 event at the Javits Center last month to a bar with several other vaccinated attendees, half of whom have since tested positive for the virus, ABC News reported.
“I felt perfectly safe with the people that I was with, and so it never really crossed my mind to think that I had COVID,” McGinn, a health care analyst, told the network Sunday. “I was just a little taken aback.”

So he wasn’t even sick.
Didn’t even know he had it.
In other words he did not have Covid-19.
He tested positive but that is not the same as having the disease.

Check out pics from the convention.
You won’t find a lot of any other kind.
Glad to hear it was mild, need to hear from unvaxxed that catch it.
The entire article says the following things of note:
1) He’s 30 yrs old. He wasn’t going to wind up in the hospital vaxed or not vaxed.
2) He’s fully vaxed and boosted. (How did he get boosted so fast at age 30, it was restricted to 65+?)
3) So this hyper transmissible variant was at a convention in NYC. A hell of a lot more than just this guy is likely infected and walking around spreading it. Shouldn’t be long before it reaches the 65+ folks (the only ones that really matter for computing death counts) and cuts them down.
Keep pushing the vax and boosters. Yeah, that's the answer....
Here in NY, boosters are open for anyone who wants them. The State Dept of Health has vax/booster clinics all over the place. I have some relatives who went for boosters - absolutely no waiting, show up anytime, no questions asked. Pfizer has the ultimate distribution network, thanks to Government and its mandates.
Maybe it’s just me but I can’t get jacked up about this stuff and the hysteria surrounding it. It’s a virus. Most (meaning the vast majority) people survive it.
He wasn't "fully vaccinated". He got a shot, but clearly it wasn't a vaccine.
"Fully vaccinated" is nothing more than marketing and propaganda term. One is either vaccinated or they are not, just like being pregnant.
He was visiting NY, not from there. And this was November timeframe. Maybe he got boosted when he got off the airplane. That would be in NY, but worthless since it takes 2 weeks for it to do anything.
Again, the key point here is 30 yrs old. The vast majority of Omicron stuff we hear about how mild it is all comes from young people. They were bulletproof via age, not via vax or anything else.
When this thing gets into a nursing home, then we’ll get legitimate stats on “mild”.
Oh golly gee wiz, we are able to detect a new virus in some people. Time to become obsessive morons and destroy our economy and society and freedoms.
This is all bullcrud. There is no test for Omicron.
If you have had a full series of shots for one of those diseases and then get a full blast of viruses from and infected person, how does the body respond?
Do the virus start reproducing but then your antibodies kick in and you shake it off?
Do you get any symptoms?
Are you asymptomaticly contagious?
What's the likelihood that you do progress to being symptomatic despite being vaccinated?
I would be willing to bet that the old "working" vaccines aren't nearly as perfect as advertised and they mainly work by breaking the pool of infectious people around, so few are infected which means you have few chances to catch it and spread it. Also, no one is going around testing everyone to see if you have been exposed and fighting against the disease, unlike the widespread testing for COVID.
His sample was sequenced.
“A lot of it was just like, ‘See, vaccines don’t work.’ But in my opinion, they absolutely work because they reduce the amount of people who are in the hospital,” he told the Star Tribune. “You might still get COVID, but it reduces the symptoms based off my experience.”
sample size of one ... SCIENCE ...
He took a test that was meant to give false positives. If you have a cold, you definitely know it.
“He took a test that was meant to give false positives.”
What?
“If you have a cold, you definitely know it.”
Yes - if you have a cold. If you have a cold virus but no symptoms, you have the virus but no cold.
"Safe and effective"
"Thank you, Science!"
"It's got electrolytes!"
