First Lady Jill Biden sorted donated toys with children of service members on Friday at Arlington National Cemetery, participating in the annual Toys for Tots event for the first time.
The event at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall included over 30 children and the first lady, who read part of 'The Grinch' to the group and called on them as they told her what Christmas meant to them and what they wanted for the holiday.
All first ladies since Laura Bush have participated in the Toys for Tots event, according to David Cooper, vice president of operations at the Toys for Tots Foundation. The event on Friday aligned with Biden’s focus on military families.
