Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said on Tuesday she is open to discussing proposals to overhaul an expanded child tax credit included in President Biden's American Rescue Plan that is set to expire in the next few days.
“I am open to proposals that would support working families and reduce childhood poverty and look forward to working with colleagues of both parties on bipartisan solutions,” Collins said in a statement to the Bangor Daily News.

You really think parents are spending it on the kids?
No - NO - you don’t just get free checks from the government for every child you have.
The child tax credit is available to ANYONE with dependent children. This includes illegal aliens.
That’s right, the credit is handed out to illegal aliens.
That is the PRIMARY reason the Rats and RINO’s want to extend the program.
Then propose a bill. You’ll need 60 to pass it. None of that “budget” BS.
Assistant Democrats have to assist the Democrats, it’s what they do.
These are the Assistant Democrats that voted for the “infrastructure” bill that Trump says is 90% wasted money.

I just retired from a district labeled a poverty district. I had a child on a feeding tube & other issues. You could always tell when his government check came. His 2 “moms” would come to school with new hair, decked out nails,etc. Meanwhile I had to beg them for diapers & towels as he spit up a lot.
Everyone at my school has stories. The saddest are the moms who came all decked out & their child(ren) looked like they spent the night in the forest.
Color me jaded.
Here is an idea. Quite giving people free money. That will slow inflation. It will also cause them to get a job.
Don’t households with dependents already have an appropriate deduction for said dependents?
Maybe interview some homeless vets & get their opinion on that.....
Stop subsidizing welfare that drives the father out of the picture.
Another effort to prevent people from working and asking them to rely on the government for money.

You seem a tad obsessed about the RINOs that Trump endorsed and pointing that out. That’s six-year-old news; I remember when he endorsed Paul Ryno’s re-election.
Given that one of the chief dogmas of the left is abolition of the family, don’t expect that to happen.

So far for 2022 he has endorsed Crapo, Grassley. Moran and Amnesty Senator Rubio.
Sure he has to stop. However, he needs to be told directly.
My daughter has a household income of $140K. She gets $500 per month in child tax credits. I was floored to learn this. I think this is DEM vote buying and making the program harder to stop, since more people are on the gravy train. If child tax credits continue they should have a cap of, say, $50K.
