I just enjoy watching, as I do with selected motorsports — F1, IMSA, IndyCars — since I was with the BFG IMSA Camel GT Racing Team back in the early 80s, with the Porsche 962/957.

Hamilton is no Stirling Moss. In some ways, being a Hamilton fan is like Prince Ginger fan. British, but not happy with being British.

Yes, Sterling Marlin after Dale’s death in turn 4.

Sterling Marlin in the Dale Earnhardt Sr. Daytona crash.

This is just as stupid. I’m sure that Nicholas Latifi would have preferred to finish the Race.

It is probably hammythehalfbreed having somebody on retainer for thuggary.

Death threats against Latifi? Nonesense.

Perhaps to Race Director Michael Masi for his “creative” interpretation of the rules allowing lapped cars to pass the safety car (only allowing those cars between Hamilton and Verstappen to unlap, while not allowing the rest of the lapped field to unlap themselves) and for calling in the safety car one lap earlier than the rules call for (both moves insured that at least one lap remained for full-on racing between Verstappen and Hamilton.)

But not Latifi.

Almost every race throughout the season has had crashes which benefit one driver or another.
You can’t to about threatening people just because there was a high speed crash. These crashes can kill drivers. I still remember Senna.

This year's action between Verstappen and Hamilton will make for a fantastic installment for season four of F1-Drive to Survive on Netflix next year.

Some speculate that the bizarre calls by the Race Director was intentionally set up to create such a last lap duel between Verstappen and Hamilton.

Max deserved to win the title on the strength of his entire season, but I'm sure even he didn't want to win in this controversial way.

Williams have a pretty cozy relationship with Mercedes. They use Mercedes engines and Russell is under contract to them. Russell sat in for Lewis when Lewis had to sit because of Covid. I can’t see a motivation for a Williams driver do something like this.

“I still remember Senna.”

I was also watching it, when it happened. Sad day.

it was the final race of the season, senna was leading in points but had prost won, he’d have taken the championship. so senna drove into him taking them both out and winning the championship. it was a dirty trick, but to senna the ends justified the means.
Prost is enjoying old age whereas senna was killed in a crash a few years back.

“Some speculate that the bizarre calls by the Race Director was intentionally set up to create such a last lap duel between Verstappen and Hamilton.”

UNGH.

THAT sort of “realty TV” is exactly what racing DOES NOT need; we’ve already got a nauseous bellyful of it in all the quibbling specifications the cars have to meet.

This is the way sanctioning bodies destroy motorsports.

You have told only 1/2 of the story...

The PREVIOUS year Prost was leading the championship and Senna was faster and all around better than Prost. Prost deliberately crashed into Senna - ending both of their races/seasons and Prost ‘won the championship’ stating that there was a problem with the car...Senna’s car was drivable and he rejoined the race and won after pitting to replace his front wing. The stewards after the race disqualified Senna for: ‘cutting the chicane’ — McClaren appealed the ruling and the FIA fined Senna $100,000 and gave him a 6-month race ban (which they suspended).

A really nasty bit of officiating...

The next year when the tables were reversed Senna got his revenge on the nasty French man that I flip-off every time I see him on TV. The FIA head Jean-Marie Balestre was complicit in both years of horrendous decisions that went against Senna; Jean-Marie Balestre was a Frenchman and he clearly was helping Prost and interfering with Senna.

This years last race was NOTHING in comparison to ‘89 & ‘90.

Merry Christmas!
