The Truth About Christians in the Holy Land this Christmas

Sadly, this Christmas, many Christian leaders must enter into a period of theological soul-searching.

Christian diplomats from once proudly Christian nations failed to oppose the United Nations General Assembly resolution that designated the central holy sites of Jerusalem to be exclusively Islamic property, thereby excising both Jewish and Christian history and the biblical heritage of the Temple Mount and the Western Wall.

And, following this recent fraud that Israel will never accept, Christian pastors and bishops are now preaching blasphemy against Israelis and the Jewish State.

This Christmas, the Archbishop of Canterbury colluded with the Archbishop of Jerusalem in suggesting that the fate of Christians in the Holy Land is being challenged, not by those who have been threatening Christian existence in once Christian majority towns, but by Israel.

This is nothing short of a barefaced lie. It more than hints of disgraceful replacement theology, a medieval blasphemy against Jews that, sadly, continues by misguided church leaders to this day.

The Archbishops, in an inaccurate and biased article published in the anti-Israel Times newspaper under the dramatic title, “Let us pray for the Christians being driven out of the Holy Land,” more than hinted that Jews were the ones driving Christians out of the Holy Land.

They even prophesied that Christianity will be absent from the Holy Land in fifteen years’ time.

They may be religious leaders. They are certainly not statisticians.

They admit that the Christian population in Israel has grown. Indeed, there are now more Christians in Israel than Druze. Christians have been free to follow their faith and various churches have taken root in Israel including Roman, Armenian, Syriac, Maronite, Chaldean, Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, as well as Anglicans and other Protestants.

The Archbishops are a number of things. “Christian” is not one of them.

My family went to Israel with me on my first State Department tour. The Dept of State spent every opportunity for nearly four months to dissuade my wife, who is one of the great Christians of all time.... Having said that all of us would live in Israel again given the opportunity; myself closer to 70 than not, would volunteer for infantry.

Israel was under Roman occupation when Jesus was alive. I’ll get back to this.

Today in Israel the Jewish religion is number one, Islam number two, and Christianity number three. If the Christian building or worship did not exist before 1947 circa then it cannot outwardly advertise the church inside. Thus if you worship in a converted factory or business address, you cannot hang a sign out front. Now you will see old Churches which is fine.

Jesus rallied against the money changers, and priests in Jerusalem, who were allowed by the Romans certain outward relics of a conquered peoples. One of those relics is the Kings no one ought be under any illusion are free from Roman stewardship. As too then the Temple was under the Roman’s who altered the very fabric of Israeli society.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem. I have been to place of his birth under the Church of the Holy See’s and the cave or manager in the middle of town down the street.

I will offer my take. Around the age of 11 or 12, Jewish male youth were sent to study the Torah or Law and become future leaders in the Temple and as priests. I think it the perfect place for Jesus, son of God, to find himself thus preparing him for his return to his family as God had other plans than Jesus remaining in the Roman/Jewish Religious hierarchy.

A young man, not yet activated into his departure but learning all of the traditions of Israel (people and religion one and same in those days), Jesus saw all the problems. He knew every lesson in the Holy Scripts (later some become our Bible).

Jesus returned home to his mother and father after being away and began his ministry. For it was a true ministry Jesus was living his life by and for his Father above.

God loved the world in which Israel was living. That tradition teaches up Jesus was born on X-Mas, Christmas is a celebration of God’s love and the Man sent to feel every bit of joy and pain or suffering of those on Earth.

It was natural that Jesus preached against the failure of the Priests to rise up against the conquers or demand that Israeli’s be allowed to worship as before their submission to Rome. Any youth with any passion in their heart cannot be as conservative as the older more pragmatic priests, but that burning of youth pushes liberalism or departure from the old. Jesus was against the Temple and the Roman’s.

It would be the creation of the Pope and Catholic Church in Rome, becoming what was called after Jesus’s ascension back up into Heaven, the Holy Roman Empire of sorts.

Christianity is at odds with the religion of the Jewish people’s who do not see Jesus as the exact prophet they expect.

Many elements of Judaism align with the Christian doctrine.

I know the power of Jesus name. Simply saying, “Jesus I Love you”, or “Jesus please help me” results in a true physical change and emotion change. Knowing Jesus and asking him anything with sincerity opens your heart and mind to God above.

I took my family to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv very early both Christmas mornings were lived in Israel. Both times we got to some snow flakes in the frozen desert-scape. We went all over the Holy Walled City and throughout the Markets, almost everyone closed on Christmas mornings. It was thrilling to have the whole city to ourselves, literally we were alone in this place where three civilizations meet and none supreme. The old city is cold as the stones built over two thousand years ago, and in the silence it is as if they uninhabited. For the afternoons I would drive to the abandoned city of Armageddon overlooking the plains of the Holylands, they say they ran red with blood more than one. Then we would go to Jordan River where they do Baptisms - one of the most beautiful places in all of Israel.

Jesus is King. Fully half the world has heard something of him. Jesus is the leader of the only religion that offers Hope to the downtrodden, or those on death row, when all is lost - He alone is there to save you.

Israel is NOT destroying nor is Israel a danger to Christianity. Christianity when religion becomes about politics finds ourselves more often than at odds with the rest of the world. Islam is at war to conquer the Jews and Gentiles.

The danger to Christianity is perverting and twisting Jesus’ acts and words. Loving the sinner but not their sins is as close to acceptance of people living in sin as possible - but while they live in that sin they cannot be Saved by Jesus. It is this misguided acceptance of active sin as compassions’, or love’, or just tossing the sin out and telling people they are actually Christians while Sinning without end which is destroying the Church. Homosexuality or Adulatory just for starters living in sin is clearly NOT allowable to God, nor the Son. Of course both in one give you the chance to absolve yourself of your sin.

Sin is the Deathwish of those seeking to remain Saved.

Jesus is the bacon of life lighting the darkness for all to see and live by and for.

It is my Christian wish for the Jewish Peoples to come back to God one and all, to cleanse themselves of their troop of homosexuality that is destroying God’s Creation. Once the Jewish return to God’s Ways they will find Jesus along the way.

Merry Christmas.
