Pfizer’s antiviral oral drug developed to treat COVID-19 can cause severe or life-threatening effects when used with common medications including some anti-coagulants, some anti-depressants, and some cholesterol-lowering statins, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (pdf).
FDA does not recommend Paxlovid for those with severe kidney or liver disease.
The FDA on Dec. 22 granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to Pfizer’s COVID-19 treatment pill as treatment for mild-to-moderate cases of COVID-19 in patients from 12 years of age.
Paxlovid was the first oral medication of its kind authorized by the FDA to treat COVID-19, with the aim of reducing the need for hospitalization before patients become too ill from the infection.
“This authorization provides a new tool to combat COVID-19 at a crucial time in the pandemic as new variants emerge and promises to make antiviral treatment more accessible to patients who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19,” stated Patrizia Cavazzoni, director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.
Paxlovid consists of a cocktail of two drugs, the first being nirmatrelvir, which stops the SARS-CoV-2 virus from replicating, while the second component acts to prolong the duration of nirmatrelvir.
The EUA came a month after the federal government announced it would purchase 10 million courses of the drug.
Earlier in November, the Biden administration had already purchased some 10 million courses of the drug in a more than $5 billion agreement.
“Pending EUA, U.S. will receive doses starting in 2021 and throughout 2022 as part of contract agreement with Pfizer,” Health and Human Services (HHS) stated in a statement.
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra on Nov. 18 emphasized the importance of “getting vaccinated” even when Paxlovid becomes available.

Can cause all the serious life threatening issues, but by golly they are gonna go ahead and approve it for use, despite iver 3dr8n having a safe track record. The left screamed about how fa gerpus ivermedtin is (despite there being only 2 deaths a year from it) they screamed about hcq being “too dangerous to take for covid” (despite it having a very safe 60 year track record), and now,they go and approve a drug that is showing to have serious issues? I suppose Pfizer Wil. Be exempt from lawsuits with this drug too?
Just one more thing.

let me warn all about FDA warnings about ‘severe kidney disease’
if it has that warning you may be affected even if you have stage 2 kidney disease...happened to me with MRI contrast.
I trust nothing the FDA or CDC say these days

So Pfizermectin isn’t as good as Ivermectin.

Looks like the anti-treatment crowd continues its jihad against anything that looks like it may be a good treatment for Covid, just as it did with HCQ, ivermectin, etc. They really want to keep Covid going, regardless of the number of dead.
Numerous drugs are released with the disclaimer they cannot be taken if you take other kinds of medication or have health issues with the liver or kidneys, or never eat certain kinds of foods while taking the medications. Not exactly unheard of or unprecedented and is actually very common.
Those that are most susceptible to serious illness that would be in need of this medication, however, are more likely to be on some of these medications.
Let’s make it mandatory then!

sometimes you cant even have grapefruit with some meds.
i have a wild story about that because I ordered some kind of water drinks for someone that had grapefruit flavoring..and he accused me of trying to kill him. i had no idea that he couldnt have grapefruit.
After COVID one might be forgiven to assume that one of the most dangerous pieces of information you can obtain would be an “Expert Opinion”.

Now we know the truth as to why they stopped the trials...
My heart med ( anti-arrhythmic ) says no grapefruit.
My cardiologist sneered at that. He said I would have to drink two gallons of grapefruit juice a day to cause any problems.
Point being, *everything* has to be carefully checked and researched when dealing with the FDA and the CDC. Doesn’t hurt to question your doctor in detail when he proscribes a new med.
You must be the final decision maker when assessing risk vs benefit with anything related to your health. It’s clear the government doesn’t agree with me on that.
