YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — An annual lighted boat parade in Virginia that’s usually a fun holiday tradition has been marked with controversy this year. The winner has been stripped of his trophy because of the political messaging on his boat.
Capt. Bill Berger won with his “Let’s Go Brandon”-themed boat over the weekend in Yorktown. “Let’s Go Brandon” and “FJB,” both of which appeared on the boat in lights, are phrases used to criticize President Joe Biden.
“My boat was best in show to the crowd,” said Berger. “They had the awards ceremony, and they presented me winning the best in show, and 48 hours later, I got the phone call I was disqualified. They said my boat was too political.”
Berger said the committee knew about the theme and allowed it. “They should not have been surprised. They had plenty of time to disqualify me,” he said.
However, the Yorktown Foundation, which oversees the groups running the parade, said no political speech is allowed, since it operates as a 501c3 nonprofit…

They apologized....and it didn’t mean a damn thing...and everyone knows it......AND it made the news and millions got to see the boat. LOL
This proves what I have always suspected; the vast majority of Americans do not watch or even try to keep up with the latest news or trending topics.

Apologizing means the cudgel of political correctness won.
I guess that there are lots of political sore losers.
It is a shame when people can’t laugh at political sarcasm. This country has a long tradition of editorial cartoons that poke fun at politicians.
If the boat parade had rules established well before the event that banned political content, it would be one thing.
Next year, register as demoncrap and put FDJT and anti-republican messages. See what happens.
It WOULD mean that IF the Captain of the winning boat had apologized.
He didn’t.
It was the organizing group that
A) allowed his boat into the competition, then
B) needed a CYA strategy when that boat won
that did all the apologizing.
And I’m still not certain they aren’t privately happy about the boat that won; it seems plausible to me that the apologizing is little more than a sort of fig leaf gesture.
Apology: Sorry you were offended. We’d prefer you to be on OUR side, but hey, nobody’s perfect!
Keep the trophy and the signs. Tell the organizers to put their money on the next lib boat to float by, the “BS Biden”.

How important is it to have your mind check what you want to say or do...then DO IT.
Unless someone is really hurt by one’s actions ...stop apologizing.
