The Australian government gave Novak Djokovic a WRITTEN vaccine exemption because he had Covid in December, his lawyers claim - as his request for a personal chef is REJECTED at hellhole hotel with 'maggot-ridden food'

Novak Djokovic ... asked to be transferred to a rented apartment with a tennis court.

But Australian Border Force have rejected all of the World No. 1's requests.

Refugees staying at the hotel had complained about poor living conditions.

Maggot-riddled food, mouldy bread and bugs in room were among complaints..

....

Novak Djokovic's lawyers have claimed the Australian government gave the tennis star a written vaccine exemption because he had Covid in December, as he remains in detention in a Melbourne hotel with 'maggot-ridden food'.

The World No. 1 has been detained at an immigration facility in Melbourne after his visa was cancelled on Wednesday following scrutiny of the medical exemption he had secured to travel to the first tennis major of the year.

But his lawyers have now claimed that he was in fact granted a vaccine exemption from the Australian government

...

In court documents published on Saturday, Djokovic's lawyers claimed the Serbian recorded a positive test on December 16, and has 'not had a fever or respiratory symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 72 hours'.

The filing said he had written clearance from Australia's immigration department before travelling to the country with a medical exemption from its vaccination rules.

....

Despite claims that he was given written clearance to enter Australia, 20-time grand slam winner's visa was cancelled after at least six hours of heated discussions with Border Force.

...

Djokovic has been forced to tough it out in the Park Hotel alongside 32 other refugees and asylum seekers, who have previously complained about poor living conditions at the hotel that has been dubbed the 'Alternative Place of Detention'.

Maggot-riddled food, mouldy bread, fires, Covid outbreaks and bugs in rooms are among the complaints made by some of the guests.

The tennis community needs to step up. They should boycott the tournament and blacklist all Australian tennis players.

8 Jan: Sportskeeda: Andy Roddick feels it would be “rough” to ban Novak Djokovic for 3 years over visa confusion, says current situation “really sucks”
by Anshul Singh
According to the law, if Djokovic fails to have his visa cancellation overturned in court and gets deported, he could be banned from entering the country for up to three years...

7 Jan: Sports Illustrated: France Sports Minister Has Already Made Decision on Novak Djokovic, French Open
by MADELINE COLEMAN
France’s sports minister said on Friday that Novak Djokovic can play in this year’s French Open, even if he is not vaccinated for COVID-19...

However, Australian Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews recently told reporters that the tennis star “is free to leave at any time that he chooses to do so and Border Force will actually facilitate that.”
His father, Srdjan, says otherwise, speaking out in Serbian capital Belgrade per Sky Sports.
“He’s not in detention, he’s in prison,” he continued. “They took all of his stuff, even his wallet. They left him with just a phone and no change of clothes, nowhere to wash his face. He’s in prison, our pride is a prisoner of these idiots.”...

(France’s) Sports minister Roxana Mărăcineanu said that the International Tennis Federation protocols for major events meant unvaccinated individuals could compete in the Roland-Garros. Per Reuters, the country does not prevent unvaccinated people from entering the country; however, there are stricter protocols compared to those for vaccinated individuals...

yes he could leave like Voracova, see below, but allegedly that would be considered acceptance of the ruling and he would be banned from entering Australia for 3 years. some say this applies to Voracova as well, but Reuters doesn’t say. Australia should lose the right to host a tennis grand slam based on what has transpired so far:

9 Jan: Reuters: Tennis player Voracova left Australia after visa issues, Czech ministry says
Czech tennis player Renata Voracova left Australia on Saturday, the Czech Foreign Ministry said, after complications with visas that got her swept up in a furore over the handling of the country’s COVID-19 vaccine exemptions.

Voracova joined men’s number one Novak Djokovic in Australian immigration detention on Thursday, despite already having been allowed into the country and playing in a match before having her visa cancelled...

While Djokovic has challenged his visa cancellation, Voracova, a 38-year-old doubles specialist, decided to leave, telling Czech news site idnes.cz she would not challenge because of the time it would take to wait and not train ahead of the Australian Open later this month...

Voracova was unvaccinated but had an exemption after becoming ill with COVID-19 before Christmas, around the time she had planned to get vaccinated following last season’s end, she told idnes.cz...

She had entered the country and played in Melbourne earlier this week ahead of the Australian Open but was then detained in the same hotel as Djokovic...

And the only “detention” camp is in the Northern Territory near Darwin. This was a camp built for the 3000-5000 rotating Japanese, overseas, and Australian construction workers when they built the INPEX LNG facility which was completed in 2019 https://aecom.com/nz/projects/manigurr-ma-village

It was donated to the Northern Territory in 2019.
