Austria's parliament has approved the European Union's strictest Covid-19 vaccine mandate, making it compulsory for the country's residents over the age of 18 to get the shot.
The law goes into effect February 1. However, Austrian officials will only begin conducting checks to see if the mandate is being adhered to from March 15. Starting then, those without a vaccine certificate or an exemption could be slapped with initial fines of 600 euro ($680).
Pregnant people and those who cannot be vaccinated without endangering their health are exempt from the law, according to the Austrian Health Ministry's website. People who are recovering from a Covid-19 infection are also exempt for 180 days from the date they received their first positive PCR Covid-19 test.
The bill passed by a vote of 137-33. Lawmakers debated for more than seven hours in parliament before the vote, in which 13 MPs did not participate.
The Austrian government on Thursday introduced another incentive for people to get vaccinated: A lottery. Austrian citizens will get one lottery ticket for each vaccine shot they have had, meaning three tickets in total for those who have had their booster shots. Every 10th ticket will win a 500 euro ($568) gift voucher, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said.
"To put it bluntly, we have earmarked up to 1 billion euro for the vaccination lottery which is based on reward and incentive,'' Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said at a news conference hours before the vote in parliament. "I believe it's totally justified to spend this money."

It may occur on 1 Feb, but it’ll be legally challenged by the 2nd of Feb...because of a little EU regulation that was passed in early 2021. That EU reg says you have the right to the vaccine, and the right to deny the vaccine. It might take eight months of stalling in Austria, but the EU court will eventually tell them they can’t mandate vaccinations.
Same issue will brew up in Germany on 15 March....where all medical personnel and rest-home personnel are supposed to be vaxed-up.

NSW hospital wards are filled with thousands of Covid-positive patients but the state’s top doctor has revealed a major uncertainty around the statistics.

NSW’s top doctor says it’s difficult to know how many Covid-positive people in NSW hospitals are actually there because of virus complications.
Not all of the more than 2800 Covid-19 patients currently in NSW hospitals were admitted because of their infections.
The state’s chief health officer Kerry Chant told NCA NewsWire in an exclusive interview that while some infected patients are there for other reasons, the fact that they have Covid-19 risks complicating their recovery.
“Even the clinicians struggle – for example, if someone has a heart attack, did Covid precipitate it or put a stress on the system?” Dr Chant said.
“It’s actually quite complicated.”...
“If someone has a motor vehicle accident, fundamentally you don’t know if Covid then complicates their remission,” she said.
“They might have come in there because of a motor vehicle accident, but then does the fact they concurrently have Covid make them deteriorate?
“These are the complexities, and we’re not trying to undersell it or oversell it.”...

Passing the strictest vax law sure seems in order.
Yet I watched an interview with the happy citizen Nazis who were delighted that the dirty unvaxxed would be punished.
If you COVID-19 test 100% of people getting speeding tickets, a certain percentage will test positive. For those who test positive, none of the speeding was caused by COVID-19… they were speeding WITH COVID-19, they were not speeding BECAUSE of COVID-19. Of course, an Aussie government bureaucrat or minister could decree otherwise.
Hitler was an Austrian house painter who had the gift of gab, unfortunately ignorant people fell for it, just like many of them do over here. When everything was done and over with, millions had to die in order to get things back on track. And now so called ‘Powers to be’ are itching to pull the same $#@! again. People are just having a hard time learning from history.

Pregnant people exempt? They can’t bring themselves to say pregnant women. After all, it is a crime against humanity to suggest that anyone who is pregnant is a woman. We have to use gender neutral language, because once upon a time a biological female claiming to be a man had a baby.
