Former President Donald Trump lost a bid Friday to toss lawsuits holding him responsible for inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.
Federal Judge Amit Mehta rejected Trump’s attempt to dismiss the civil cases with a claim that he has absolute immunity because he was in office at the time.
“To deny a President immunity from civil damages is no small step,” Mehta wrote in a 112-page ruling. “The court well understands the gravity of its decision. But the alleged facts of this case are without precedent, and the court believes that its decision is consistent with the purposes behind such immunity.”
Mehta, a U.S. District Court judge in Washington, DC, and appointed by former President Barack Obama, ruled that Trump could be sued for helping to incite the Capitol riot because his “Stop the Steal” speech ahead of the attack in the city was not an official presidential act.

What happens if Trump doesn’t show up for the suit?
Start with the impeachment of Traitor Roberts and work down.
The ruling should have been that the plaintiffs Do Not Have Standing.
Discovery could be interesting.
When Trump gets back in the White House he needs to get congress to impeach this judge.

Everyone who lost a business to the riots in 2020 should start filing lawsuits against all the democrats who condoned and promoted them. Including mayors and governors who told law enforcement to stand down.

So I guess this means we can sue Joe Biden for allowing millions of foreign nationals to invade the country who I would imagine have already cost quite a number of US citizens their lives.

Frivolous lawsuits. Trump should file countersuits for harassment, libel and defamation.
Makes sense. Donald Trump incited the Jan 6 incident so that he would be perpetually harassed for inciting it. As an “insurrection” it was a total failure.
I would imagine the closer we get to 2024 the more outrageous the attempts will get to prevent Trump from running solely to protect the domestic enemies of the USA currently occupying our government, and I wouldn’t rule out attempts on his life as well.
