Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL) *** a candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama, proposed granting Canadian truckers protesting the Trudeau government political asylum in the United States.
***
“Well, I am proud of the Canadian truckers and how they are attempting to assert their right to liberty and freedom,” he said. “I believe that you need to push back against government dictatorial efforts as much as possible, and certainly, that is what they are trying to do in Canada. And the science, quite frankly, has proven the Canadian truckers to be right. That’s what’s so baffling — you’ve got these people who made bad decisions, they’re in elected office, both the United States and [Canada]. They made these bad decisions based on incomplete information way back in the spring or late winter of 2020. And for political reasons, they’ve stuck to those positions when the science has refuted the premises for a bunch of the positions that were taken.”
“I would say to the Canadian truckers — we’ve got our supply chain issues here in the United States of America,” Brooks continued. “We could use some more truckers in the United States of America. And I suggest we give or offer them all political asylum. I think that’d be great if they were to leave Canada, come to the United States of America, move our goods from the East Coast to the West Coast and every point in between, and see what Canada then does — as they have, in effect, expelled these truckers by denying them their liberty and freedom.”

Nice. Ain’t gonna happen. He wants to be senator. He can get there without the theatrics.
Biden would send THEM back to Canada even though he would not do that to those from the southern border.
They are the kind of foreign workers I would like.
If I were one of the truckers, I would take him up on the offer. Unfortunately, ‘Big Guy’ XiJinBiden is on side with True-dolt.
Heck, if that offer were also extended to Canadian FReepers, I’d find a way to ‘ol ‘bammy’ myself! (As a ‘pureblood’, I can’t leave PRC (Politically Repressive Canada), at least not by air, sea or rail, and XiJinBiden apparently requires EVERONE from foreign lands (except those coming through Mehico), to have had their CCP-Coronavirus ‘shots’.
Canadian truckers should just go on strike: Shut Canada down.
Yeah, like Biden is going to welcome people proclaiming ‘Freedom!’ They are exactly the kind of people he doesn’t want to let into the country.
Get a GiveSendGo fund to fly Canadian truckers to Nuevo Laredo and let ‘em walk across.
I do like Alabama.
Pseudo-science = Treadau-science! ... No difference.
He has been spouting off at the mouth how he is “following the science” in his condescending tone. The truckers have the high road in this battle.
Another example of why I like and support Mo Brooks
We’ve got supply chain issues because we’ve abused our truckers (and peaceful 1/6 protestors) as much as the Canadians have theirs.
Bringing in Canadians to take the jobs of our truckers we’ve chased out of jobs doesn’t really sound like a solution.
Maybe instead we could gift our 30M+ illegals with bus and train tickets to Canada?
We do need more truckers here big time.
We do need more truckers here big time.
What a dumb idea. What makes Brooks think they would even be remotely interested in ‘asylum’?
The number of unvaxxed Canadian truckers targeted in this action is a good deal less than our US commercial driver shortage. So it wouldn’t be a matter of taking US drivers’ jobs away. It would be a matter of easing a domestic motor freight flow problem that has unique potential to drive up the cost of everything that US citizens need to buy.
Plenty of state gov’ts are already using taxpayer dollars to shunt no-speakee-English immigrants, freshly sprung ex-convicts, and failure-to-thrive specimens from their welfare rolls into commercial driver schools under their control. The results aren’t inspiring. The Canucks—a high percentage of whom have been operating on our highways for years—are notable for high competence, driving courtesy, and proficiency—especially in winter driving conditions. They already have CDL reciprocity.
I think these people have a more substantial asylum/political refugee claim than many of the ones we’re letting in on that basis already. My thought was that they and their families could be given instant temporary work and residency clearance, to be reviewed as conditions develop. Maybe permanent citizenship after a designated period of full time service. We’d be free to suspend the program if our labor market changed. They’d be free to go back home if their gov’t remembered how to spell FREEDOM. It would be a great way to put pressure on the Canadian gov’t without direct confrontation or interference.
I think this is a really good idea. It sounds like something Trump would have already proposed by now. I agree, though, that it ain’t gonna happen with a Democrat in the White House.
If anybody qualifies for political asylum right now, it would be them!
Unlike Mexican truckers, they can drive in snow and read the road signs.
We REALLY NEED truckers too!!!
They’ve got a lot more valid claim for political asylum than any of the illegals coming across the southern border. The truckers actually are being politically persecuted, the illegals are flooding in because they don’t like the dumps they’re from and want free stuff.
