Having worked in a bunch of different medical disciplines, it’s pretty striking how there really does seem to be a notable rise in kids born with autism and other strange problems to these gals who wait until they’re like 40 to start a family.
And then they’re having to take the kid to the doctor all the time and monitor his/her behavior and suddenly the career isn’t there anymore, either. A lot of the time I would be transcribing reports for these kids who were having behavioral/cognitive testing - very complicated, expensive process - and the doctor would be dictating something like, “This patient’s mom and dad are now divorced. His brother also has autism.”
Depressing! I don’t have a problem with someone who doesn’t want to have kids. (Let’s face it, a lot of people should pass on having a family.)
I do kinda have a problem with the “I can have it all!” mentality of a lot of women, though.
