Russian forces will carry out 'special military operation' in Ukraine, says Putin
Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia will carry out a “special military operation” in Ukraine, Reuters reports.
In an address to the Russian people under way now and coinciding with the United nations security council meeting, the Russian president also said:
Clashes between Ukrainian and Russian forces are “inevitable” and “only a question of time”.
Further nato expansion and its use of Ukraine’s territory are unacceptable
The Russian military operation aims to “protect people” Circumstances “demand decisive action from Russia”

When I finally looked closely at a map, the nato membership being a red line made a great deal of sense.
eastern ukraine is deep into the former USSR territory. letting nato airpower projection and defenses be there would be intolerable. in terms of conventional (non-nuclear) conflict modeling, it would possibly not be something they could counter acceptably. therefore they will not allow it.

That’s funny; the Ukrainians actually did a lot of that stuff - against Russian Jews.
Rather like Israel does when the Palestinians and Hamas store them. Also he's securing the areas of conflict by ridding the areas of conflict, such as the republics, of these creating the conflicts. Additionally appears to have dropped some missiles on airports and protecting the Black Sea port areas.
I'm not getting that he's bombing cities rather going after installation areas.
Been looking at various webcams seems business as usual to me. I think the news overhyped as usual.
Hearing from some reporters that Ukrainians didn’t seemed to be ready for this as far as the public goes. Despite all the warnings the people are complacent since they’ve heard so many of these warnings.....until last night when it started. Of course now they have concerns.
Additionally Ukraine Army wasn’t as prepared in how they were seeing things developing....might be why the Pres. of Ukraine got so upset with Biden for blowing the horn too early.....it would send a false alarm before it needed to be sent.
