OK; seemed like odd timing for me - especially considering there was still no footage of any “invasion”.
Many of us watched the Gulf War unfold; this looks nothing like that at all.
War just plains sucks...really. Though we might understand various leaders thinking and acting as they do on the world stage.... war brings casualties and death....and that’s what sucks!
In this war Nato/US expansion vs. Russia’s security issues have just met in the middle now of their positions which have brought this war to Ukraine. Took 30 years from the onset to get to this place.
Well I wouldn’t call it an invasion as Putin doesn’t want all of Ukraine demographically.....even the break away republics are only recognized. But Putins been staunchly clear for decades Ukraine was his red line.....and Nato/US just plain went to far in all the military equipment and armament they’ve been flooding into Ukraine for years now....and he’s targeting all of that.
I’m no fan of war; this is a local matter between Russia and Ukraine, and will be settled as such.
The way you describe it would make it seem we are the aggressors (and you might be right - I don’t trust any honest or impartial reporting here in the US).
They’ll sort it out.
NATO was designed to stop Germany from tearing through Europe every quarter century; I don’t even see the point of its expansion. It just feeds the primitive fear of “encirclement” from WWI days...
I understand that for Russia the airports and the strategic sites of Ukraine are not Ukrainian, but “foreign targets” who have used the Ukrainian territory for anti-Russian operations.....warehousing armament, machinery etc. etc.
Now you know why Putin has been putting our PR the last few years about having super accurate hypersonic missiles. Even while Trump was President. Will China use this chaos to take over Taiwan, with the key prize there being semiconductors, chips and electronics.........
I am very nervous. Just the way Russia slammed full bore into Ukraine. How about NordStream 2 with Germany?

Remarkably frank admission by Germany’s former defence minister leader:
“I’m so furious at us, because we failed historically. After Georgia, the Crimea and Donbas we prepared nothing that would have really deterred Putin.”
The sound of tectonic plates shifting.....
I’ve also been hearing families and people in Ukraine saying they really weren’t ready despite the warnings...now there’s bumper traffic of people trying to get out.
.......”this is a local matter between Russia and Ukraine, and will be settled as such”......
100% agree. Unfortunately Ukraine Governing body doesn’t see it that way.... Instead of dealing with Russia they’ve been tugging at Europeans to bring them into Nato but fail time and time again to meet the requirements. hey can’t put aside their deep corruption throughout the population and government.
Does the German ask what Ukraine did to prepare for this?
I saw the streams of vehicles on the news last night; I didn’t see any invasion, though (just reporters in paintball helmets). If they broadcast that a Katrina-level storm was going to hit New Orleans in 24 hours, we’d have the same footage of vehicles fleeing right here.
I’m old enough to remember when Ukraine was selling military hardware to any buyers to raise foreign capital after independence (rather than make the harsh adjustment to free market economies as was done in Poland, for example); they probably regret selling off that stuff now...
I think Biden replaced it all with the shipments he’s sent for months.
And of course Ukrainians will be selling what they can as their military armament etc. arrived. hey aren’t called one of the most corrupt nations for nothing. Everybody is on the take - it’s a culture norm there.
Sure - they even paid the Biden syndicate through Burisma.
Are Americans willing to fight to keep money flowing into Biden Inc.’s coffers? I doubt it.
Not I don’t believe that’s going to happen. People will wait until the next election.
Just heard there has been no mass casualties in Ukraine and so far the attacks have been targeted munitions, warehouses etc. Although there is always going to be some collateral damage so far this appears to be very much targeted areas.
Interesting is one reporting said the Ukrainians are fed up with their President and think he should have done more to prevent this. Some want him out.
Same thing happened in Georgia in 2008; the population lost faith in their government and its military.
The lack of photos/footage in an age when they have never been easier to transmit is puzzling - and disturbing.

there are photos on twitter of captured Russians and destroyed Russian military equipment. I expect the Putinist invaders will take down the internet in Ukraine soon.
That’s because there’s been no mass casualties. Media loves that kind of stuff.
I’ve seen a lot of gifs showing tanks etc. moving about. But actual explosions are indeed limited. I suspect twitter etc. are taking things down as they usually do.
Why aren’t our news networks broadcasting these (if they really want to show a “war”)?
Re: 38 - LOL!
For someone who claims they are so in tune and informed regarding current events, they are wrong so very, very much of the time.
