Vladimir Putin wants to seize all of Ukraine and "worse is to come" during the conflict, the French president has warned.
Emmanuel Macron held talks with Mr Putin over the phone this afternoon in a bid to ease tensions between Russia and the West.
According to French officials, Mr Macron told the Russian leader that he was making a "major mistake" in Ukraine, adding: "You are lying to yourself".
Following the call, Mr Macron believes "worse is to come" in the unfolding humanitarian crisis and that Mr Putin wants to seize the entire country, according to an aide.

It was Putin who called Macron today, according to the Elysée. The call lasted an hour and a half. Macron told Putin: "you are lying to yourself". "There was nothing that Putin said that reassured us", a source in the presidency said. France is preparing for the worst

Macaron is a poodle. All it took to prevent it is to press Zelensky to implement the Minsk agreements. They had 8 years for this.
Putin called Macron. Not the other way around. Not a sign of strength.

This may be to install socialism in the US.

Putin called Macron, not the other way around.
It’s not a good sign that Macron is Putin’s only remaining friend and mouthpiece for his demands.
I agree, that Russia appears to want all of Ukraine.
I think given the UN vote, that NATO will eventually get involved. They are just waiting to see how much more of the Russian army Ukraine can destroy.
Then they will issue an ultimatum and deadline to Putin to turn his troops around and withdraw. And if he doesn’t, they will establish air superiority and being attacking the Russian troops from the air. It’ll be a slaughterhouse.
But NATO will probably offer a cessation of some of the sanctions as soon as Putin withdraws. So a carrot and stick approach.
Sure it risks nuclear war. Putin will have to decide if he wants his legacy to be as the one who started a nuclear world when the whole world was against him. The West can only be nuclear blackmailed so much befofe it calls his bluff.
Putin is looking for a way out, so he went to Macron, who I don’t trust.
This means it isn’t going well for Putin. He tried to start WWIII and he failed, the blowback is just beginning. The only people Putin helped were Chinese and the Biden crime family.

My guess: Putin does not want all of Ukraine. He just wants two eastern regions, Donetsk and Luhansk.
At the peace talks, Putin will demand everything. But he will “reluctantly” settle for Donetsk and Luhansk. Sanctions will then be lifted. Putin wins.
Macron has no idea what he’s doing.
Putin fanboy here…invasion probably not necessary…but perhaps we can look forward to Yanukovych getting reinstated in his rightful role as Ukrainian President.
