I had a discussion today with a friend in the medical field. He claims some of his associates suspect COVID-19 can be spread by an infected person passing gas. He said if you're wearing a face mask and you can smell the offending odor, there is a good possibility you could become infected by these microscopic invisible gas particles. He said they're trying to develop a mask for your ass, such as some type of special adult diaper that's been treated to absorb gas and can be worn over or under existing clothing.

On Monday night, Minneapolis police officers murdered a man named George Floyd. And, yes, they murdered him. Some may object to the characterization given the blunt, hard candor of the term, but there’s no other way that any fair-minded person can view the video of a police officer consistently and persistently burying his knee into the neck of a man who eventually died due to the restriction of oxygen resulting from the placement of that knee onto his neck. The Minnesota Vikings have issued a statement regarding the murder of George Floyd.

When the British handed over Hong Kong to China in 1997, China promised to respect it’s independence for the next 50 years. The shorthand for that plan was “one country, two systems.” But the two systems part of the plan could effectively come to an end tomorrow. China has tried and failed in the past to exert more control over Hong Kong, but this time it seems prepared to simply bypass Hong Kong’s government entirely and pass the new law via the mainland’s one party system: Security rules proposed by the Hong Kong government in 2003 would have empowered...

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) halted a coronavirus testing program promoted by billionaire Bill Gates and Seattle health officials pending reviews. The program sought to send test kits to the homes of people both healthy and sick to try to bring the country to the level of testing officials say is necessary before states can begin safely reopening. The program, which had already gone through thousands of tests, found dozens of cases that had been previously undiagnosed. The Seattle Coronavirus Assessment Network (SCAN) said on its website that the FDA had asked it to pause testing while it receives...

LANSING, MI -- A fight broke out on the steps of the Michigan Capitol Thursday morning during a protest aimed at Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the ongoing state of emergency and stay-at-home orders. J. Scott Park, an MLive photographer, witnessed the fight break out after a man carrying a garbage can filled with a sign, an ax and an American flag removed the flag from the can. Attached to the bottom of the flag was an unclothed doll with brown hair that was hanging from a noose. Organizers of the protest called the display “hate speech” and when one protester...

Congressional Republicans are demanding Democrats answer for sexual assault accusations against Joe Biden, moving to neutralize Democratic attacks that charge Republicans with ignoring President Trump’s alleged misconduct. Republicans are accusing Democratic congressional candidates of rank, “#MeToo” hypocrisy for standing by Biden amid allegations by Tara Reade that their presumptive presidential nominee sexually assaulted her in 1993, when she worked in his Senate office. The message is being delivered by the twin GOP congressional political outfits, the National Republican Congressional Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee, in a barrage of email blasts and local media hits. The Trump campaign is amplifying...

In late April Dr. Tony Fauci made it clear he opposed the decision by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to lift the lockdown orders in his state. “If I were advising the governor, I would tell him he should be careful. Going ahead and leapfrogging into phases where you should not be … I would advise him not to do that.” But Dr. Fauci was wrong again. In fact, it starting to look like this guy is NEVER right about anything? It must be nice having a government job and not have to worry about getting fired! Fauci and the critics...

Many gays with kids face the same challenges of straights with kids. How do you teach children morals? How do you get gum out of the dog’s hair? How do you teach children manners? How do you get your son or daughter into Harvard, Notre Dame, the Olympics or NBA Basketball? But a few of the challenges arise only in that particular environment of the gay man or men raising one or more straight sons. Boys grow up, and sometime between the period of cute adolescence and mature adulthood, there is that time when a son is a rebellious teenager....

Docuseries host and prop collector Dan Lanigan embarks on a road trip through cinema history, meeting stars and creators of such classics as 'Mary Poppins' and 'The Muppet Movie.' Movie blockbusters aren’t what they used to be, and that doesn’t just apply to recent months with theaters closed. (Streaming anything good lately?) A few decades ago, when studios poured $50 to $100 million into films such as “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” “Tron,” or “Mary Poppins,” the silver screen lit up with story ideas and visuals never before seen. Today, such budgets are most often reserved for paint-by-number remakes and tiring...

The Washington Post editorial board on Wednesday called on former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, to address allegations of a 1993 sexual assault from former aide Tara Reade and release documents relating to his Senate career. In the editorial, the board says there are “no clear conclusions” regarding the accuracy of Reade’s account but notes that the 1,875 boxes and 415 gigabytes of Senatorial records, which were donated to the University of Delaware in 2012, could confirm whether Reade filed a complaint over the alleged incident. Examining the documents, the editorial board states, would not necessarily...

LAKE ORION, Mich. – Canterbury Village is postponing drive-in movies that were scheduled this week and next week. The postponement announcement was posted to the Canterbury Village Facebook page with the message that the “governor just shut us down.” According to the post, the governor halted the event... Keith Aldridge, who owns Canterbury Village, said there were plans in place to make the drive-in safe and socially distanced. “We were limiting the amount of cars. Every car would get a 20-by-20 spot. You could listen to the movie on your FM radio and we decided against trying to do concessions,"...

Tesla Inc. TSLA, +4.08% Chief Executive Elon Musk reiterated his criticism of ongoing shelter-in-place orders across the U.S., calling it an "infringement of people's rights" and saying that telling people they cannot leave their homes is "fascist, this is not democratic. Give people back their (expletive) freedom." Tesla's sole U.S. vehicle-producing factory in Fremont, Calif., has been shuttered since late March as the San Francisco Bay Area was among the first regions in the U.S. to issue mandatory shutdowns. "It's outrage" that will cause "great harm" not just to Tesla but other companies and suppliers, Musk said in a call...
