On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) stated that he would be surprised if oil companies weren’t engaging in profiteering on gas prices and Congress needs to “keep an eye on that and try to make sure that the oil companies don’t take advantage of the situation.”
Co-host Brianna Keilar asked, “Oil prices, as you know, are falling. Gas prices, they’re not following yet, but they are expected too. And one of your colleagues, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, says that there is profiteering that is happening by oil companies. Do you agree with that?”

Plywood goes up when there is a hurricane inbound. It doesn’t go down till years after the damage is repaired, if ever. Same reason oil is crazy high is because the EPA and tree huggers hinder sustainable logging and oil drilling at every turn.

Price is how the market determines to whom to allocate a scarce resource. Of course profits increase over costs under those circumstances. The solution was not to take government action to restrict supply.

Your probably right about his wife. But I think congress needs to keep an eye on the idiots over in the White House. Or the stupid idiots IN CONGRESS could just restart the oil drilling and pipeline pumping of the oil and get our prices back down. If all 500+ fools up in Sodom on the Potomac, who are stealing money from the taxpayers by masquerading as honorable servants of the citizens of this Republic would all vote for it, they could overpower his expected veto.

The only “profiteering” going on is by Members of Congress
