The word that the Joe Biden administration has opened up the southern border has reached eastern Europe where Ukrainians trying to flee from the Russian invasion have shown up and are being allowed to seek asylum in the United States.

Good grief!:) I think the main problem is that the Russians end up as GOP voters, whereas Ukrainians are mostly Democrats.

And the 20K Russians caught at the border in December were likely let through. Some of their “best” highly “trained” alpha males, I suspect.
Of course the Russians wouldn’t send people disguised as Ukrainian, naaah they’d never think of that.
And I bet they are the “black Ukranian” ones that Europe didn’t want.

I don’t think America has traditionally turned away from real refugees, but this contemporary business of shipping any and all troubled peoples here is corrupt.
A while back I envisioned us eventually being asked (before being told) to take refugees into our homes. Because we have “too much empty space and have room” and “think of the poor”, etc. I was less than shocked to recently hear of Brits being asked to consider taking in Ukrainians.

AS perhaps the greatest economist ever, Milton Friedman said , to the effect that you can't create a welfare state and allow unfettered immigration into it. Eventually the whole system will collapse.
