Particularly troubling is that the school administration refuses to accept that this case was not about the First Amendment but about their support of their own students to libel the Gibson family.

The college maintains a website dedicated to the case, and now, even after they have experienced such a devastating defeat in court, they are still in denial about what happened.

Does anyone know where that website is?

Oberlin has a $1 Billion endowment. It’s not like they have to go looking through the couch for change. Just pay what’s owed for crying out loud.

If that endowment includes funds set aside for specific purposes, then they may not be able to tap it. Donors increasingly restrict gifts to ensure the money isn’t squandered on a radical agenda - or a lawsuit. The Catholic Church has been accused of hiding money when in many cases the funds can’t be attached in lawsuits; donor stipulations would ensure it would return to the donors before being paid out in settlements.
